Definitely yes. I think it's ridiculous to print everything from voting ballets to drivers test in multiple languages. We don't have an official language now. But, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independents, etc were all written in ENGLISH. We lose enough translating old English into current English. We'll lose a lot more translating it into multiple languages.

To all the ones who say that English is the official language:
Many people are surprised to learn that the United States has no official language. As one of the major centers of commerce and trade, and a major English-speaking country, many assume that English is the country's official language. But despite efforts over the years, the United States has no official language.
Almost every session of Congress, an amendment to the Constitution is proposed in Congress to adopt English as the official language of the United States. Other efforts have attempted to take the easier route of changing the U.S. Code to make English the official language. As of this writing, the efforts have not been successful.

Well, I guess I would vote for it was ONE of the official languages (not just THE official language). The U. S. is known for being one of if not the country with the greatest mix of people from different countries. I don't think that it would correctly summarizes our country to only have English as an official language. Lood at all the other countries that have more than one official language: Canada- English and French, Hong Kong- English and Cantonese, India- Hindi, English plus over 19 other official languages, of course there are tons more too.
Aside from having just English I think that the U.S. should have at least two or three other official languages. Spanish, French, and Chinese have the greatest number of speakers after English so I guess these three would be logical choices. Just think about it, they already have Yahoo! U.S. in English as well as Chinese and Spanish. Plus when you look at products sold throughout our country the majority of them have instructions in both French as Spanish along with English. This is a good indication of the high number of speakers.
Just my opinion though.

clarify ! evaluate that English has been the regularly occurring language of this land for a minimum of 2 hundred years before the Revolution. No remote places language comes close, yet on the fee the Arabs are gaining effect, perhaps we'd desire to study Arabic as a 2d language. no longer !

Everyone needs to think back really really hard to when they were kids. Did you ever watch "School House Rock"? America is a melting pot of many different nationalities and languages. The entire IDEA of America is diversity. This country was founded on the belief of freedom from religious persecution, freedom of speech, and the pursuit of happiness. Who's to say that other nationalities aren't entitled to those things? Let's face it, if we like it or not, all sorts of people are pouring into our borders every day, and along with them come their heritages and language. I think as a reminder for Americans that this country is for everyone, not just "white" people, we should remain without an offical language.

I think yes, since it has been for abour 200 years, but I like the idea of having spanish as a 2nd language, considering more than half the people I know speak it.

we were founded on English and we might be a melting pot but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have English as an official language .

Gringos these days are sooooooo Hispano-Phobic that a vote aginst ANYTHING Hispanic is fashionable... too bad!
When the rest of the world is trying to be multi-lingual, Amrrrrrcans are trying to be the opposite. It kind of reminds me of 'The Great Wall of China' that kept that country backwards with respect to the rest of the world, for centuries. God help us!

You are all wrong.
(well, besides the last poster, who is correct)
The United States has no official language.
No, I would not support that.
We are supposed to be a salad bowl of cultures.
And it would just give racists more of a reason to spew anti-immigrant bigotry.
