to put them out of their misery?

Have any of you seen the movie "million doller baby," it's a tradgic movie about a boxer who was badly injured and was on a life support machine for a few years or so. She grew tired of the life of fustration and pain she had and then asked her trainer to "dose" her at first he did not want anything to do with the idea. But as time went on he realized how much she was suffering (she was peralized from the neck down) he finaly decided to go through with it, after talking it over with his local church. Just incase you didn't know.

Thats where this question comes from.

As a nurse in the geriatric field, I have come across this topic many many times, as well as been faced with the question. While assisted suicide is not legal, their are very compasonate people both within and without the medical field. All I could say is that their are methods in which this is carried out - Thank God.
While you question pertains to that of God and not of the medical field, the only answer I could give is knowing in my heart that no merciful God would be able to punish some one for loving someone enough to end their pain.
In the grander scheme of things, ultimately, God is the one who takes them, and should it be of Gods plan to keep that individual further, the no humanly thing we could do - would stop Gods work.

God does forgive as long you ask forgiveness, God is a merciful God. But one of commandments is thou not kill. My thoughts on the subjust is I think I couldn't do it because it would be killing someone and if you get caught you would go to jail. But if I were in your friends condition I wouldn't want to live like either and knowing me I would ask for someone close to me too.I wish I could be more help to you I really don't how how I would feel or what I do in your situation but pray about it and wait for answer from God. God bought us in this world and He only knows when it our time to leave this place call home, our real home is in heaven. I will pray that He gives you the answer you are seeking and you follow His will. May god bless you as go though this journey. I'll keep you and your friend in my prayers.

You ask a very hard question. All I can think of is the pets we've put to sleep, to put them out of their misery. What if they had the capacity to tell us it's ok, that's what they want, would it have made it any easier.

If it is in a person's will that they do not want to be left on a life support machine indefinitely, then that should be honored. But just to put someone out of their misey because they do not want to fight or even try.... that is Wrong!

It would all depend on what was in your heart: Malice or compassion.....God will know and you'd have to answer to it when your time comes. I have a living will that addresses my wishes should I become incapacitated. I would hope that my family would have the strength to honor my wishes.

If by that you mean to kill them...then the answer is obvious. It is always our desire to relieve the suffering of someone we love but the decision is not ours to make. That may sound cruel but I can assure you it is not.

no, I don't think someone being on life support is living!! these doctor's draining family's of their money(you need this 25.00 pill for this &100.00 for this one,ETC.) saying prolonging life, ha prolonging death is more like it. you wouldn't let a dog suffer!!

how is that one killing one's self?
