If the burn is serious, then it will be there for a very very long time. If it's just a surface burn, then it will be okay in about 6 weeks.

Serious burns need serious attention. A physician will be able to prescribe the best treatment for that.

If it's not serious, then I would use a aloe ointment. DO NOT USE greasy ointments or oil based ointments. Keep it clean. All burns are very vunerable to infection. Keep it cool. Don't aggrevate it. A light burn will eventually scab. DONT PEEL THE SCAB. When it starts to flake, you can cover it. The less you mess with it the less it will scar.

Scars take time to recover, and some never do. You may end up with a scar depending on the extent of your burn.

Even if you think it's not serious, go ahead and have a doctor examine the wound. Express your concerns about the appearance. The doctor may have a some more suggestions.

Well if the skin is just red it shouldn't be too long, but if you blistered it will take longer. I once burned my arm, so bad it blistered, had a allergic reaction to the medicine, and the scar is still with me. That was 20 years ago.

if u went to the doctor they told you the severity of the burn.... they range 1- 3. 3 being rly bad. if its a 3 almost definately it'll always be there, 2 is iffy, but more likely, and most 1's go away.

Healing varies w/ each person & severity of burn.

What I do:
1) apply vitamin E oil or aloe vera as often as possible (Neosporin can be good to use as the burn heals too.)

2) protect the area from sun exposure & extreme water temperatures

3) try to avoid exposing the skin to water - i.e. only to wash & even then take short showers, wear gloves when doing dishes, etc.

Depends on how badly you burned it. I had a pretty bad burn one time that lasted over a year. I've had milder ones go away in a few months. It just depends.
