And please don't trot out Josephus. Even fundy scholars admit that was a forgery.

In addition, there is NO evidence of the "slaughter of the innocents" that Herod allegedly ordered at the time of Christs birth, although the romans kept meticulous records - they somehow left that out....

*(edit) LMAO. She knows why your avatar is angry! Amazing isn't it? Knowing Jesus means you can also infer meanings behind avatars. I wonder what Jesus told her mine means.

Writing is all the evidence there is for many historical people. So does this mean you believe he never existed at all? Not to say Christianity is necessarily true, it does have some logic flaws, like any religion that supports an all knowing all powerful, yet loving and merciful God, it just doesn't match up with the real world. However for the most part the history in the Bible is found to be true by MANY historians and Archaeologist, I think it is even a large majority.

Why do you care? I don't understand why people feel the incredible need to crap on people's beliefs. Why don't you question Buddha, Muhammad, or even Plato? If we go by your criteria, then there is no evidence of their birth either. Just what is your point?

For all the self-righteous attitudes some non-religious people have, they certainly don't seem to carry over to helping the world. Atheist Against Child Abuse? PONF (people of no faith) Children's Home? Agnostic Women's Shelter?

I think not. At least our "decisions based on nothing "lead to something. What do you do for the world?

Where is your evidence that he did not exist, did any of the Romans or Jewish people claim (to deal with the spread of Christianity) that Jesus did not exist. This is because the early eyewitnesses all knew he existed, so it would have been pointless to go down that road and everyone knew it. Many early eye-witness Christians died horrible deaths, yet they did not say, "O yeah it was all a joke, do not kill me." Actions speak louder than words (though it is also written down). And if you are expecting legitimate concrete proof, rather than what was written down by scribes, historians, etc. Then there are many other ancient figures whose existence you should be questioning.

You have the freedom to say anything against Jesus and Christianity. If you can not believe in the authenticity of World History where Jesus is authenticated by both believers and unbelievers, how can you believe that Christianity is just the product of that historical fact? scientifically authenticated by archeological findings etc. What you say is the the one instead that is based from nothing.

Many are brain washed sheep that are led by shepherds at the top of the church. thats a whole different question tho . i think they must believe in a symobol and jesus just so happens to be its name. as in different religions the name changes to the other gods.
By being a servent of god/jesus your life has a meaning and purpose. the fact that the bible was written by man has nothing to do with the fact that jesus is a powerful symbol worshiped by millions. Even tho NO one on this earth at this present time has seen this jesus in a physical form as so told in the bible.. I say this because i know people will try and catch me out with the holly goast bit, but in the bible jesus walked the earth the same as us mortals.

YES! I believe in Jesus. There's plenty of evidence in the Bible. All the prophecies that were told in the Old Testament was fulfilled in his birth. It's not a decision based on "nothing." It's actually faith. Christianity isn't just a "religion". You have to talk to God and he will talk back.

There is enough circumstantial evidence for his birth and existence; however, I do not see any proof of him being divine by birth or the child of a deity. He likely was just a man who bucked the system and was put to death over it in a political move. Then a number of years later when a new religion needs a martyr there is a ready made one.

Why beleive in Jesus? My parents did, as well as my grandparents and the rest of the family. The town I grew up in was mostly christian. This country I live in is mostly christian. A large chunk of the world is christian.
I'm just going with the flow.

I believe because I choose too! I see it like this I could live the life and go up with the rapture when it comes. But if it isnt real then I have lost nothing. It is a personal choice. That is why god gave us free will.

What's really amusing is how Xians talk out of both sides of their mouths. They claim they just believe on faith (plus that book of myths) but they are also busy conducting archaeological excavations hoping desperately for some shred of concrete evidence.

The real answer as to how they can believe is that they were indoctrinated, brainwashed, bamboozled, and sold a bill of goods.
