No.
A common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to "recruit" a householder, or get him to "convert". In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!
That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.
(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.
Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

I lived in Louisiana all my life. When a hurricane was coming but a few days off everyone got into action. They hurried around and knocked on doors, rang phones, put it on tv, radio, loudspeakers in the streets, police came by, the army came by, firemen came..they wanted to make sure everyone heard the message.
If so many Jehovah's Witnesses are coming to your home or greeting you on the street, or where ever, it's because a tragedy is about to happen. A calamity of biblical proportions that has never happened before nor will ever occur again.
God tells all his people to seek people of all nations...teaching them to observe all the commandments Jesus taught us from God and then..Guess what?
Yep..And then the end will come.
The end of what?
The end of the 7th world powers of America and Great Brittan.
Just as all the other world powers were crushed so shall this one. You want to be among the living ...or the dead?
Yes we are trying to find the ones that are sighing over the bad things the people on earth are doing to each other.
But we are here just to warn you...and give you hope about what you can do to get saved.
Accurate knowledge, and getting baptized.
I don't consider it recruiting....I consider it helping someone to survive what's coming.
If there were a lava flow I would give you a hand so you wouldn't die.
We don't just choose anyone...we have a orderly way of contacting everyone.

no. When a Jehova's Witness comes to your door they come to share with you God's word. You have every right to say you arent interested and guess what.....we will go away. When I think of recruiting I think of the army....Jehova's Witnesses try to share the truth with you and help you to help yourself.Just like someone else said, we ask no fee's for any publications, we ask for no donations, we are trying to help you find what we found. If you are uninterested we will go away but at least we tried. How many other churches can say that. AS far as someone saying our Bible is distorted, I have a catholic Bible, a Lutheran Bible and a JW Bible and all 3 say the same thing, all 3 are worded differently and the Catholic Bible has more books than the others so what does that say. You do not have to believe as we do but please don't put us down for our beliefs. I wouldnt put you down for yours.

Well I would like to think by example of how I try to live my life others would be attracted to know more about my faith, so in that sense, Yes.
As for scurrying away when in the light, No. While we all have moments of fear, Peter and Cock crowing, as Christians we know the importance of sharing our message in "Brightest day and Darkest night"

They are only doing what is commanded of them...Jesus foretold for our day this work:"This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for witness to all the nations; and then the end will come" He also instructed his fllowers: "Go..and make disciples of people of all the nations." Matt. 24:18: 28:19
And no we dont sell our Watchtowers, like someone mentioned above...nor do they sell bibles, books et et. We dont pass a basket around & we dont ask for a 10th of your paycheck either, like some churches do in the name of god...everyting that we give is in a private contribution, on our own..that is what pays for the printing of all our material...

Of course they are: they are recruiting believers who want to worship Jehovah and be a witness to HIS coming kingdom.

What are you getting at with this verse? They wouldn't see themselves as that. They would see themselves as spreading Jehovah's message. (They may need portable victorola's or picket signs to do that.)
