Stevie Ray Vaughan-Texas Flood. Jimi Hendrix-Red House. Muddy Waters-Mannish Boy. Johnny Winter-You Keep Saying that You're Leavin'. John Lee Hooker-Sweet Home Chicago. BB King-The Thrill is Gone. Robert Johnson-Crossroad Blues. Those are all some good ones. Jimmy Page(from Zeppelin)-You Know You Shook Me. I've really got to say tho' when I think of the blues Stevie Ray Vaughan is definitely who comes to mind first.

Janis Joplin when she was with Big Brother and the Holding Co. Songs like Summertime, Ball and Chain and I need a man to love. Muddy Waters is an old time Blues artist and famous. I even think Robin Trower is blues songs like Bridge of Sighs, excellant! Right now thats all I can think of. Good luck. I forgot Bonnie Raitte and BB King.

John Mayall (not everything is slow) but it's great blues. He's one of the giants. (good albums "The Turning Point" and "Blues form Laurel Canyon".)
BB King (wonderful guitar- classic). BB King has influenced so many people. See the Wikipedia discography: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BB_King#Discography

Here are two of my picks you might find unlikely: Jimi Hendricks does amazing blues guitar on the songs "Little Red School House" and "Voodoo Child" (the live version is best I think).
The other one is the Allman Brothers Band in the albums "Live at the Fillmore East". "Idlewild South" and "The Allman Brothers Band".

I can't stress enough how great John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers are. Check out the "beano" album ... it has Eric Clapton on it, just doing some of the greatest blues guitar work ever recorded. Mayall with Peter Green is also an oustanding album.

Buddy Guy, as well, is awesome; gotta love Albert King as well. Also, The Yardbirds are **amazing** ... slow and fast blues ... just an awesome, awesome, LOUD jam band.

If you like slow blues, then you have to listen to some Johnny Taylor also known as 'Johnny Taylor the blues whailer'. His music is a must for anyone who likes the blues. This is one of the greatest blues musicians ever. One of my favorites is the song titled 'Somebody's Baby'. among others. Check out Johnny Taylor's Greatest Hits and you will see what I mean. His music is phenominal.

I like Albert King and Bobby Blue Bland.

Both are gifted guitarists and soulful singers.

For riffs, try "Down By the River" by Roy Buchanan. Exquisite!
