I don't really burn that bed and I'm beggining to lay out in my backyard and I'm getting pretty good color. But if I go to a tanning bed three times will I not get burned down Ocean City?

oh my my my. you my dear, need to be in the know about your skin. Alright so first off, a tanning bed can do MORE DAMAGE than the actual sun. 30 minutes in a tanning bed is equivalent to 8 HOURS IN THE SUN! You need to wear sun-screen when you are tanning in your back yard, or you most likely will get skin cancer. A tanning bed does NOTHING to protect you at all, it just makes it worse. My suggestion? Wear sunscreen so your not a burnt melanoma mess all mutated from the suns UV rays.

There is no real proof that a base tan at the salon will decrease your risk of burning in the sun.
Not to mention the fact that going to a tanning salon or going out in the real sun without sun protection both pose risks of skin cancer and of course premature aging. So, the risks outweigh the benefits either way.

Three times in one day?

Why not just use a tanning cream or spray? You won't get skin cancer and get the same results that you want.

a base tan only provides the equivalent of 5 SPF. not much of a difference anyway.
