If the Bible says "not to judge" then why do so many people feel compelled to tell others that theyr'e going to hell? Doesn't that seem hypocritical?

It seems hypocritical, and it is. There becomes a line that can be crossed however, the line of good judgment. One that makes these judgments is one that is being told by God who is going to hell. Jesus said, "I do not judge, but if I do judge my judgment is true, for it comes from the father." (paraphrased form book of John.)
So those who have true judgments are allowed to make such judgments.

The ones I believe you are referring to however are the ones who judge out of spite, ones who judge because they don't like them. These people that are hypocrites, and they are hypocrites the moment the call themselves righteous.

If a person merely explains what the Bible states than it is not hypocritical because God is actually doing the judging. For example, it is not hypocritical for me to say that an atheist who dies still rejecting God and His Son, Jesus Christ, will go to Hell. I am not judging the person but merely explaining what God has said in His Word. However, if I were to say that someone was going to Hell for dancing or whatever, that WOULD be judging and therefore, hypocritical.

The problem with today's society is that people have taken "judge not lest ye be judged" as meaning that we should not stand up for what is right and against what is wrong. Once evil is found and proven, it should be fought against until it is defeated. However, God will judge us by the same criteria that we use on others so we must be careful to understand motive, facts, and truth.

Judgment is a pronouncement of correct or incorrect or well or unhealthy / evil and so on. Even the pronouncement that one is "different" generally is a judgment. We figure many matters over the path of an afternoon, what turns that discernment right into a judgment is an funding of ego both proudly owning it or resisting it. If the ego owns it it's judged as well, correct or mine. If the ego resists it it's judged as unhealthy, evil or different. When the ego resists one other it has a tendency to decrease the individual to an proposal within the brain. Then the ego now not feels obligated to regard the opposite as a man or women. This is how it's viable for or else "well", worrying men and women to devote atrocities in warfare and underneath severe occasions. One can figure that it's dangerous to spend a lot time round distinct men and women with out judging them as "the ones unhealthy others". One can draw a difference among a people movements, conduct and critiques and the essence of the individual. Judgment is gross and overreaching. Discernment is delicate and targeted.

The Bible does not tell us "not to judge", but rather not to "condemn". This is violated by the church when it excommunicates someone. Saying something like, "If you do not accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, you will go to hell." is not necessarily judging someone, it is just stating a position. albeit very brash.
Say I were to go back in time to Britain on April 10th 1912. There I see the maiden voyage of the Titanic being boarded. I have knowledge that will set the destiny of those who would listen and those who will not. If I were to warn as many passengers as I could of this "unsinkable" liner's impending doom, I could easily be dismissed as being a naysayer or nut. The problem is, I have information from the future, and no one will believe me except those who take the information by faith.
We Christians have the same information from the future (ie timeless eternity) called the Bible. It has been proven 100% accurate in fulfilled prophetic passages and there is another 25-30% left to be fulfilled. This is information is for those who will listen. For those who discount what we warn, climb onboard--but don't blame us for not warning you.
This is worse than a doomed ocean liner. This is eternity we are talking about. So for a Christian to warn of impending eternal doom after death, that is something quite different. To do it with a condemning attitude is wrong--this I would agree is incorrect. But it is also a sin to stay silent.

Romans 10:14-15
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?

Let's take a closer look at the Scripture.

Matthew 7:1-2..."Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again."

The complete thought is given in verse 1 and 2.

Jesus is teaching a principle. The principle is that we do have the prerogative to judge, but our judgment must be fair, measured, and righteous, because others are going to judge us and we want the same consideration when they do: we want them to judge us fairly, measured, and righteous in their judgment.

John 7:21-24..."Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel. 22 Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man. 23 If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? 24 Judge not according to the appearance...

but judge righteous judgment."

Here Jesus is saying that if you do judge to judge a righteous, or correct, judgment.

Anyone who does not know Jesus Christ personally is not saved and is going to hell where there is eternal separation from God.

So, if I say to an unsaved person, "If you don't know Christ you are going to hell," I have judged fairly according to the Scriptures and I have judged correctly according to the Scriptures, and I have judged righteously according to the Scriptures.

If I was on the receiving end of that statement I would not like someone to say that to me, either. But now you know the truth of this statement and understand.

Some people change their lives when they see the light; others when they feel the heat.

I hope this helps.

Yes it is, but again we are all hypocrites and not admitting we are is hypocritical. I'm a hypocrite you are everyone is, its human nature to judge everyone judges, we can only practice to do it less, but no matter what we will have judgments in our hearts minds and words so not just Christians but everyone is a hypocrite,

yes the bible tells us Judge not unless you also be judged. But letting someone know that if they do not receive christ as their savior, they will go to hell is not judging them. It is telling them that if they make the wrong decision then they face an eternity in the lake of fire in hell. when it is considered judgement is when you look at the way they live their life and just say your going to hell, then that judgement. everyone has to make their own choice as to where they will spend eternity. we are to tell them of the love of god and they make up their minds to what they are going to do.

That is not judging, explaining the bible to someone is not judging it is making people aware, and it is spreading the "good news" that they don't have to go to hell but that they have been saved and that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and that by no other means can they escape hell. It's actually spreading good news, not bad news about how to get to heaven.

Actually the bible says that all who are of the holy spirit are to judge:

I Corinthians 14:24-25 "He will be convinced by all that he is a sinner and will be JUDGED by all, and the secrets of his heart will be laid bare."

Leviticus 19:15
In righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.

John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

1 Corinthians 5:12-13
For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

Christianity is based on love,
Do not judge or you too will be judged-
Telling people that Jesus died for sin..
and that Jesus judges-that hell exists-how is this passing a judgment.
If I warn people that an police officer is pulling people over in traffic that the judge is going to give them a fine..what is wrong with this?
