I was wondering that myself. I think many people cannot deal with or understand uncertainty. I think it frightens them. So you get the kind of answer like "oh, why don't you just make up your mind?" But that's not the point. Agnostics are people who feel that whether there is a God or not is something that is unknowable. Either way is possible and I am not egotistical enough to say that I know what is unknowable. I identify myself as an agnostic Jew, however, so I guess in some people's eyes I have two strikes against me. And that's okay....because their feelings about me are irrelevant, so it's okay with me.

Okay, this might serve as an example. A bad one, possibly, but here goes. Picture 3 types of people in the world, those who love hockey, those who hate hockey and those who are, you know, "casual citizens" - like most Americans on the topic of hockey. (Hey, I was raised in Canada. Hockey is a great sport, damn you). Anyway, posting a question, as biased as I am, about hockey, I would expect 3 different types of answers. They might read like this. 1. Hi, I believe in hockey, it's the greatest sport on earth. 2. Hi, I hate hockey, it sucks - and so do you. 3. Hockey, yeah... I think I saw it on TV once. You get two points for a goal, right? Crazy, I know, because I realize how much you guys (agnostics) have to contribute to the R&S debates. (Which is why you're one of my most loved). So... Oh... damn, here's another example. War. Two sides shooting. Bullets. Grenades. Cluster-bombs. And a whole lot more. Depending on which side you're on, someone in uniform would eventually show up and ask how many of the enemy were killed. Calculations would follow. Then, the dreaded - along with X number of civilians. Agnostics, are the civilians. :)

I have always thought of agnostics as people who were unsure of whether they believe in God or not. I don't really have any questions for people who are unsure. Usually agnostics are the ones with questions which I try to answer to the best of my ability.

Agnostics are asking questions themselves... It's only the "know-it-alls" who have the answers...

Because neither side takes us seriously. As if it's wrong to question the universe.

They are uncertain of anything. So, why ask? The answer would just be "I don"t know!"
