Why would you ask for an opinion about a group of people but refuse an answer from the group directly?

What should we do about those gay folks? Hey, shut you gay people! You don't get any say! We're gonna talk about you, not to or with you!

Anyway, as many others have already stated, R&S stands for religion and spirituality. Atheism, as I have been told repeatedly, is NOT a religion; however, many atheists have an interest in topics on religion. Additionally, some atheists are spiritual. Therefore, there is no reason why they shouldn't post here.

But I gather from your question that you weren't really looking for an answer from anyone who disagreed with you, were you?

Religion is a form of spirituality, just like all of the other belief systems. I think it's funny that you asked this question, because you knew you would get a reaction out of the "atheists." This tells me that you are some what curious, and actually are intrigued with what we have to say! I'm not atheist persay, but don't judge people because of a simple word. Maybe you should open your eyes and maybe you'll see a different perspective. But I think you already knew that, and that's really what you want. To see a different perspective. Ciao!!!

As an atheist, I don't mind religion as a practice strictly for personal faith and belief. However we are concerned of the danger religion will have if it dictates politics, justice, law, and diplomacy, over the logistically tested and proven rationality of science. When religion mixes with politics you get dangerous situations like the "poisoned kool-aid incident" with Jim Jones. We just don't want America to become a theocracy. The only way to stop it is to educate one voter at a time supportive of mixing church and state with rationalism and to keep religion as a faith decided by individual or one's family values. Atheists are fine with the practice of religion, we just don't want it to interfere with politics and others peoples life style.

On a side note I beileive that schools should teach facts both in support of and against evolution and let the children choose their positions on it not the parents. You have to remember school is supposed to help bring a future to the children not the parents. So let the children choose the future they want to pursue.

same reason so many religious people post in other sections?

I think you are misunderstanfing the sections! I mean should we only allow pets to post in the pets section? sounds a bit daft to me, the sections are for categorizing questions not askers and answerers

and if no atheists posted here you wouldn´t have an answer to your question becasue the religious people don´t know the answer do they.

This section is for the discussion of religion and spirituality, something atheists have a great deal to contribute to. The only places essentially reserved for religious folk would be their places of worship.

I didn't realize an interest in others beliefs even if you do not share them was against the rules...

Thanks for segregating beliefs, I am sure it will work as well as segregating races has in the past..

Yes I am Atheist does that make me somehow less worthy of knowledge and exchange of information than you?

Yup you are a religious bigot get used to the title or change your behavior..

No, it's for questions about religion (and spirituality.)

You don't have to have a religion to question it.

Surely you're smart enough to figure that one out! It doesn't say "religious and spiritual," now does it?

There is a site called beliefnet.com which is full of little sections run by petty tyrrants who don't allow people of other religions to post. Look at your browser bar, and if it doesn't say beliefnet, you're confused.

Drink drink drink!!!

No, this is NOT a section just for religious folks. This is the section in which questions and answers pertaining to the subject of religion & spirituality may be posted. One needn't be a Christian to know about Christianity just like one needn't be a dog in order to provide accurate, helpful answers on dog-related questions.

You wouldn't kick humans out of the dog section, would you? You wouldn't kick out someone who isn't a dog owner, would you?

Atheism has been improperly called a 'non-religion'. Every atheist is his own god. He decides for himself what set of rules to follow and the only rule they expect others to obey is that they do not question each other's atheism.
Right now the prevalent doctrine they embrace is science. Their own misunderstanding of their own brand new doctrine is slowly driving some scientists of good conscience to strike back at the many false interpretations they concoct.
The primary tactic of "evangelism" they employ is to attack the faith of children. They seldom meet with any success confronting anyone of maturity. Get one mad at you and you immediately turn into an ignorant, stupid, backward thinking, hateful, and degenerate brainwashed fool.
The first atheists on this planet attempted to attack the children of Israel and the church by false interpretation of scripture and misrepresentation of truth. The new doctrine they embrace will only prove them wrong after it is fully understood and applied to their own logic.
In short....they are trying to convert you to their religion.
