Just now, I posted a reply in semi jest to a question about 72 virgins in heaven for Islamic suicide bombers. However, it set me thinking, is there really such a provision of 72 virgins in heaven in Islam. If yes, it seems to be male oriented. What is concept of heaven for women ? Serious please !

Thanks for a few serious answers. I know that in most of the religions, most of the things are having male perspective. We can leave that aside for the moment. Can anyone tell me what is the exact concept of heaven in Islam ? Thanks.

Look, the whole world is male oriented or whatever you call it. Islam is the religion, so what people do and claim to have done it because the religion says so, it's bullshit. People are the ones to blame not their religion, unless the religion is about hurting or killing others which is not the case in Islam. The holy Qu'ran says that men and women are equal, but infidelity is a very serious crime in Islam. Marring a woman in Islam is very complicated because you as a man have to supply whatever your wife and her family need. Traditions in some way have affected education. Some people in the middle East are illiterate and not educated, that leads to violence and stupid acts. Islam a beautiful religion when followed and understood the right way. You can't even hurt a worm because it's a sin. Respect your surroundings and all living things, that's what real Islam is about.

There is no such thing as a martyr getting 72 or 70 or 59 or whatever virgins. If anyone dies fighting for the sake of Allah, he gets a reward of the highest level of heaven and whatever he desires. There is no number set. The number is propaganda created by non muslims hell bent on tarnishing islam. That is the truth. Heaven is not male oriented. Women who make it to heaven get what they desire, whatever they desire.

They have trouble translating certain parts of the Quran...and that 72 virgins thing isn't correct. I'll tell you why...most people will probably disagree with me but houris or whatever, are creatures, anyone who is not married will get one, they are not just for sexual purposes,they are creatures that do things for you. but suicide bombers will not get them if they die thinking about this, they will go to hell. It's a mistranlation and alot of western people don't like islam for whatever reason and have picked on this one passage and stated it wrongly to get people debating and hating islam. If this was right, alot of women would turn away from it, and I believe in it and I'm from Canada and I'm white so it's not just a religion for arabs or whatever people want to say.

God says that every one in heaven gets whatever they want so I guess women can get 72 males virgins if they like...... Concept of women: We are to be respected as a mother, sister,daughter and every other role women play..

Heaven for women in Islam is not different than heaven for men. Both men and women stand before The Almighty equally to be judged. The Almighty did not create women to be inferior or subservient to men. They are human beings, worthy of respect.
Women do not go through men to get to Almighty God. They have a direct connection with Him, just like men.

The odd thing? The Prophet Mohammed said that a suicide cannot go to paradise, Islamic law actually opposes the practice.
And for the Dentist below me, technically you're right but not realistically. I realize extremists can use anything and manipulate the words to mean what they like but realize that "Dying while fighting the infidels in the cause of Allah reserves a special place and honor in Paradise. And it earns special favor with Allah." Against these considerations, the selfless sacrifice by the individual Muslim to destroy Islam's enemies becomes a suitable, feasible and acceptable course of action.

72 virgins is a concept invented by the western media to cast Islam in a bad light and frighten the sheeple and those that get get their news from such sources like fox news. its not in the Qur'an.

ok, the concept of heaven is the same for men and women...most Muslims believe that suicide is wrong, and those who do it are extremists...the concept of heaven, although we dont really know whats there or what it looks like, is just unimaginable good stuff whenever we want it...i guess its the same as anyone would imagine heaven...

Serious: they get to Paradise too, I assume. Actually, there is nothing in the Koran about suicide bombers. Defenders of the Faith, perhaps, but not suicide bombers.
Non-serious: they get to be one of the 72 virgins.
