Yes they run small. My step-mom who's tiny, found her perfect dress and it ended up having to be a size 16 from davids bridal. she wears a size 7/8 in jeans. So yes.
My wedding dress is a size 16, from alfred angelo and my pant size is 14....... so I think they're all different. I tried on a dress size 16 at davids bridal and there was no way my breasts were going to fit in it.

You should really go to a David's Bridal site, just to try on styles anyways. I've been in three weddings in two years that had dresses from DB. Some of the styles run big, some run small, and some run true to size. you can't really tell until you go in and try something on. Even if you buy online, at least go once to get an idea of how the fits work on you. I normally wear a 14/16 dress, and in one wedding I wore a DB bridesmaid dress size 16, no problems, another wedding, close to that wedding, I was in a 20 (two weeks after the first wedding). Seriously, there was that much variation on sizes. The 2nd dress was a halter, the first was a skinny strap. ETA- As a poster below writes, the problem with DB is in the chest area. As a moderate C cup, I could not fit into a halter dress in anything close to my normal size.

Not so true. My best friend just went and tried on dresses there. She is normally a 6 and fits perfectly in a 4.
My best advice: Go to the store and be sized. That way you get a dress that fits! Besides, the SIZE doesn't matter, no one will know! What matters is that the dress is what you want and you look amazing in it!

It probably depends on the designer. So many luxury size these days, that it's hard to know what your true size is anymore! I haven't bought a wedding dress, but my bridesmaid's dress from David's was in my normal size. Actually, I think it was a size smaller, cause I'm smaller on top and it wasn't close fitting on the bottom.

I absolutely hate DB, but aside from that, all wedding dresses from every bridal line run small. You'd think on the one day a woman wants to feel "small" the sizes would run BIG ... but they don't! :)
As long as you have the mindset that all gowns run small, and that no matter what your size you'll have to order at least 2 sizes above normal, you'll be fine.
I wish someone would create a bridal gown line of dresses that start at size 20 so they can be taken in for everyone.
