Under the Prevention of Corruption Act1988,offering of bribe will be considered as abetment for which Whoever abets any offence punishable under Section 7, Public servant taking gratification other than legal remuneration in respect of an official act. or Section 11, Public servant obtaining valuable thing, without consideration from person concerned in proceeding or business transacted by such public servant. whether or not that offence is committed in consequence of that abetment, shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which shall be not less than six months but which may extend to five years and shall also be liable to fine.
So you see that even offering 'bribe' is a punishable offence in India.

Yes , it is punishable, but as the punishing deparments themselfs getting the bribes, so mostly they are not punishing the people who offers it.
For this all our youth has to take a lead and first make ourself and our family not to offer the bribe for any reason.

The question is who is there to punish - judge (my god, they are the most corrupt - recent survey indicates 77% of the people beleive that Judiciary is the most corrupt) or Police or Politicians or Ministers - No one in India has the capacity to punish.
Bribery is punishable and the law applies only to those caught and those peasants. Bribery as Malpractice is accepted form for Business, Bureuacrats and connected people.

it is an act which induces others to commit a crime too
it is as punishable as accepting the bribe but unfortunately the crime itself is responsible for the giver and the taker both getting away scotfree
bur the right to information act and the public litigations by socially conscious individuals are ensuring greater transparency and hence justice
there is hope !!
