Does anyone have any experience of vets recommendations in the UK...personal experience?

Most information I have read suggests 6 months but I have also heard that it can be done much younger. The sooner it could be done safely for her the better...especially as we are moving to a house that is less secure and I am concerned she might escape!

It is safe for kittens to be spayed or neutered at 2 pounds in weight. This is what many humane societies use as their sign that a kitten can go through surgery.

However, many vets will want to wait at least 3-6 months.

A lot of vets in the US still hold on the six months time frame and I think four or five is much better if you can find someone to do it.

Shelters in the US have been spaying and neutering kittens at two months for about ten years now. And it has greatly reduced the number of euthanizations of shelter animals who are homeless.

In the United States you can get a kitten spayed or neutered at 3 months old.

In the US, pediatric spaying and neutering is often done at just two months. I also learned of a Siamese cat breeder who altered all of her kittens before they even left her cattery(Like a dog kennel for cats)! Do it as soon as possible!

yeah it can be done earlier but 6 months is the best age to get it done. if your worried about her escaping just watch to see if she goes into heat but at her age I don't think she would.
