Absolutely. There are a number of atheists, some of them rather famous, who are mean, nasty little critters. I would not associate with them.

To be honest no, they haven't. Atheists have always been kind to me...even back when I was a fundie Christian. Even when my fellow Christians were always attacking me and trying to cut me down. Also, atheists were kind to me when I was a Asatruar as well.
I don't tend to get embarrassed by other people. I haven't met an atheist who's embarrassed me yet.
Cheer up, there's trolls pretending to be every belief under the sun here. Don't let them get you down.

There are a few "atheist" trolls - people who really do hate anyone Christian - and there have been a few instances I know of of abuse. But the vast majority are good and debate fairly. That doesn't mean they (and I) won't retaliate in kind. And atheists seem to get an awful lot of hostility thrown their way by "loving" Christians. As you have seen.

Oh definitely. Some people are just rude... although a snarky question begs for a snarky answer, some questions that are polite are sometimes met with derision that makes me cringe.
I also hate it when they say all atheists are scientific/logical, and I am a Taoist atheist. Taoism is replete with paradoxes (which I love) and even celebrates them as great wisdom; there's nothing logical about it.

Yes, it happens but "ashamed & embarrassed" are too strong a words for how I feel about it. Preferably an Atheist should use logic and reasoning to argue a point... but I can understand their frustration with Theists who don't.

Of course. When I tell theists that I am an atheist, they automatically ascribe the worst aspects of any atheists they've ever known to me. "You know, I knew a guy and he hated religion and thought I was a moron and wants to throw us all in prison. So you must as well."
Believer or non-believer, anyone can be a dillweed.

Sure! Some Atheists make it their personal mission to loudly bash Christianity every chance they get, which is silly and immature. But people of all faiths can be like that.
