This is a quote from the president. He said "illegal aliens do work that Americans refuse to do"

Was he right? What did he mean by this? Why would our own president put us down like that?

I have to say I don’t buy the argument that illegals do the jobs Americans wont do. Take fast food restaurants as an example, illegal immigration advocates say that Americans wont do that job. I say bull!

Fast food has been around and in business long before the huge influx of illegals, and guess who worked there? Teenagers. When I went to North Carolina last year to visit my wife’s family, every fast food place we went to was staffed by high school kids. They were not working to support a family full time, they were working part time to get some spending money. They were also gaining very valuable, entry-level experience in the work force to give them a taste of such future things in life as working hard for your money, responsibility, education, being on time, etc.

And think, they can even understand your order!

Now, a whole generation of young people is missing out on this valuable life experience because this class of jobs has been taken over.

So I don’t buy that Americans wont do it.

The common argument on here all illegal aliens work in the fields for a dollar an hour picking produce so we don't have to pay $10 for an orange.
In reality, only 25% of illegal aliens work in agriculture, the remainder are AMERICANS. There goes that argument out the window.

There IS NO JOB IN THE U.S. THAT IS FILLED 100% BY ILLEGAL ALIENS (Gabus), since you are the only one so far that responded defending illegals.
In other words for those that still don't comprehend, there is NO job that Americans won't do.

A large percentage of illegal aliens work in construction...how do the pro-illegal idiots answer that? Do they say, well if we deport the illegals, we are gonna pay $5 million dollars for a house now?

It may be true that many stoop labor jobs, such as picking vegetables and fruit are filled by illegals, but that is only because they are a convenient , cheap labor source for profit seekers to exploit.

If the illegals were not available for such work, businesses would be forced to raise wages to a level that would attract the amount of laborers that they require. Of course, this would result in higher prices for produce, but any U.S. citizen who wants to see more employment available to Americans (and NOT foreigners) should be willing to pay a few more pennies for their produce.

What price for patriotism - a pint of strawberries?

I agree that most fast food places were at times filled with teenagers and they did get the order right. Now my daughter cant even get a job on her summer vacation because they are filled with illegal immigrants.I don't believe there is single job out there that an American wont do..If we didn't have millions of illegals we wouldn't need so much resources to feed everyone.

I think he is the devil in disguise. He seems to be doing everything to hurt the country & anything to help himself. He can care less obout the American people! He can send our kids to war, but where are his drunk twins??? Right at home with Mommy & Daddy!!! I dispise him as our leader & can't wait until '08 to get him the heck out of office. Maybe then he will go back to hell where he belongs!!!

urstruely... The reason they get hired first at the temp agencies is because guess who is usually the manager... a Mexican. They hire their own. They can care less about Americans of any race. They don't even like Mexican-Americans, because they are too intimidated by their American way of life.

As for illegal doing work that Americans refuse... That is a bunch of BS!!! There are too many people on skid row that will do anything right about now. He should be thinking about our hungry & poor; not any illegals that break our laws!!!

No. They do work that Americans can't do economically. Generally because of employment laws that protect Americans - and any other worker who can report violations without fear (justified or not) of depotation - from exploitation by unscrupulous employers.

its true in some ways go to a temp agency look at who gets there first and watch as jobs come in and they ask who wants to go???? tell me who gets up and who doesn't my sister in law works in a temp agency called benchmark and she tells me that the black people only come in there to drink their coffee she's like some do go to work but the vast majority just sit and drink and sit and drink and then come back again at twelve noon and do the same routine over and over again one time she asked one of them why do you come if you don't take any jobs I offer he said bc I don't like them so she asked him what are you looking then he said something like in an office or related to that she said these are all manufacturing jobs I can't offer you what you want but I do have tons of forklift and machine operators and ect. he said no thanks and left??? I do think what he said was right to a point but would a guy in an office working on his computer go out to a company and pick and pack orders load and unload trailers or work in a company where there is not air conditioning and its hotter inside than outside????
