In the beginning, when God created His last masterpiece, man, he called upon all the angels to behold this wonder.
He asked the angels to bow down to man as He considered man to be superior to the angels. All did but one refused. God decided to unleash his wrath upon the disobedient one, satan. Satan quaked in his boots and asked God to spare him until the day of judgement when all God's creations will appear before Him. God agreed but told satan that he was banished from paradise.
satan had to reside somewhere, hence hell came about.

Interesting question. Most of the answers people will normally give u will sound like;
Satan was a good angel, who wanted God's throne and there was a war and he lost.
The only part of this found in the bible is the last part with the war and he being cast out. Rev 12. But how do we really know he was a good angel or what is the source of this information? For him to think he even had a chance of wining the throne says that the position of 'Godship' was reachable, which is kind of like a political war.
If there is any truth to it, i'll say he thru him out because he was disrupting the peace & causing confusion (gaining too many followers) in the heavens, but the part i don't get is why place him here when there is an entire universe of millions of other planets to choose from.
But to answer your question truthfully "I don't know".

"In the Name of God the Most Merciful and Most Compassionate."
Lucifer was the first born of all the Angels...........
He was Gods bright and shining morningstar.....
All was well throughout all the Heavens.....
Then God said I shall create man............
This man shall have a special quality in him, for I am going to place a fragment of myself within him, giving man the ability to know things that no other creatures shall understand. This fragment will be called the Soul and he shall have the ability to know more than the highest of my angels.
Lucifer hearing this became enraged declaring that this was unfair since he was Gods first born. Arrogance and envy arose in Lucifer and he departed from God taking a third of the Angels with him. God allowed the dark one to withdraw, and was sent to the place where man would eventually inhabit,
called Earth.
Some time after the dark-one arrived on Earth he was bound with chains, and God provided man with a vast amount of Grace to live, multiply and prosper. This Grace has been diminishing at an accelerated rate because man has lost faith
in God the Father, to the point of even saying that God does not exist. These chains that bind the dark-one are dissolving
and they will be gone shortly, releasing the dark-one upon mankind.
May that One God of Inestimable Love and Undiminishing Compassion shower man with Divine Grace and protect us all.

Satan was the Archangel of light of the Universe....God's appointed favorite......Satan bacame vain and believed he was God's equal...and with that in mind he grew jealous and decided to take God's place.....and that was the beginning of the war in Heaven against God. God and his ally angles defeated Satan and approximately one third of the angels were cast into Hell, the Devil's Kingdom created by God.
God does not like competitors and he is a jealous God....is the first impression one has of the story. The real story is......Satan, because of vanity and jealousy, fell into hatred, and hating instead of loving is a deadly sin.....hate leads to destruction and death. . But God is all merciful and did not kill Satan.......perhaps one day....Satan will make peace with God.......just t like us. Do I believe all of the aforesaid.? Yes.........because if it is simply an allegorical fairy tale it speaks volumes as to the killing character of the force of evil as opposed to the healing character of goodness. We have a choice.....do we throw out goodness in our hearts or evil?
