If she enters Canada from the US, she will need a passport unless she is a US citizen. If you fly, you definitely need a passport. You don't need one if you drive across the border until 2008. They may still refuse her entry. My boss's wife was not allowed to enter the US because she was born in England (and did not have a Canadian passport), even though she lived in Canada since she was 2 years old, so it's better to be safe and check ahead before you plan your trip.

You need to check with the Dept. of Homeland Security or the Immigration Dept. of it. Many changes have been made. Americans now need a passport to go to Canada or Mexico where before they didn't. Things get very confusing today.

Your spouse can pass to and from Canada with in basic terms a green card. in the journey that your nephew is an American citizen and is 15 or youthful, he can return and forth to Canada by land with purely his American delivery certificates. if he's not American or is sixteen or over, he might desire to have a valid passport. no person might pass everywhere with an expired passport!

You should purchase a re entry permit, it is similar to a US Passport. It was very common years ago and now will be common again.
