Read about him, you can not say all Christians enjoyed and supported the Holocaust. Like a guy proposed in a recent post, that all Christians embraced Nazism with open arms, some may have, but many were forced to, and quite frankly their options were communism or a facist dictatorship. They were between a rock and a hard place, and other than Joseph Tito, I did not see many atheists (yes I will pick on you) making a good effort to stop the Nazis.

So you are not required to act.... so yeah that is good excuse, watch someone die because you are not required to act... and you wonder why some people mistrust atheists.

Also the late Pope John Paul II, played an active part in both helping Polish Jews in WWII, and being a beacon of light in communist Poland.

Atheists don't have meetings and we are not required to act. As for that are you certain that none acted? Most people do not get 'credit' for being an atheist because they don't have to show off for a certain sect of people.

Maybe you should read what I said. I said we are not required to act unlike your religion which says you should and your religion didn't. Then I said are you certain no Atheists did anything because usually we don't get credit for being Atheists since we don't have to show off our non-belief unlike the hypocrites that your religion do.

Of course I've heard of him. No sooner was he canonized for his work with the Jews of Auschwitz for which he gave his life, than American jewish organizations began a vicious campaign of slander against his memory, claiming he was "really" a "secret anti-Semite" who "actually" hated Jews - which naturally begs the question, why did he volunteer to administer to the infIrm and dying at a death camp when he knew he would share their fate? It also begs the question whether Christians should in fact do anything for - or show any kindness to - Jews, since they usually respond with cruel, unjust accusations. Almost every French jew who survived the nazi occupation was hidden in Catholic facilities, but today's Jews keep insisting both Catholics and the French people are their enemies, supported Hitler and are now out to undoe them. Why help such people? A Christian should not extend mercy expecting gratitude but if help is rewarded with cruel slander, why give it? It is a bitter price to pay for risking our lives,as we did with the children of Izeiu.

A wonderful and unselfish man! For those who do not know the story....

In 1941 he was arrested by the Nazis because he was Catholic and sent to the concentration camp at Auschwitz.

On July 31, 1941, in reprisal for one prisoner's escape, ten men were chosen to die. Father Kolbe offered himself in place of a young husband and father. And he was the last man to die, enduring two weeks of starvation, thirst, and neglect. He was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1981.

Yes, I've heard about him. Have you read about Cardinal Mindzenty, too? He was another great man who opposed communism in Hungary. He was drugged and brainwashed by the communists because of his influence.

Yes, it happened very quickly but everything came together very quickly too. Sometimes it takes a very long time for the miracles to happen that indicates the Sainthood, but in this case it did not take very long at all.
