...I just thought of that today, I wish I could say that it is an old Irish parable, but I just thought of it today...what do you think about it?....Right, wrong, dumb...what?

It's a pensieve, thought-provoking resolution.

Guilt isn't always a bad thing. It implies a need for honesty, one that most of us feel and often surpress, for doing something we know to be wrong. However, it can be used constructively to prevent us from future offenses.

I'd say you pretty much have it. It's a way of keeping you honest, and hopefully, a little virtuous too.

an honest soul would not allow it's conscience to be guilty,...

the end does not justify the means, a change of heart can,... a guilty conscience can be a sign of an honest soul but not the 'best' since it only denotes a feeling but does not imply an action... a repentant heart that cause a change is a better sign.

nice quote, ;-)

I believe guilt is a useless emotion. Why feel guilty? Either you ARE guilty or you are not ... what is the feeling all about? If you've done something wrong, make amends and go on. Don't prolong the event (which is now a dead image) by continuing to "feel" it. Living in the moment is preferable to living in the past, particularly if it is a past event that drags you down.

Well, since we're all sinners, that could probably be true most of the time! Being humble and acknowledging we are unworthy before God is an exercise in holiness. You might even say it is "getting in touch with reality."

Remember in Fiddler on the Roof Tevye says that each man "knows who he is and what God expects of Him." This gives us stability in a crazy world.

But we should never let guilt consume us because then it would keep us from accepting the fact that God can forgive us.

I think that it could mean that you know what you did was wrong.

But a guilty conscience eats away at your soul. It bites away at you over and over until you can not even look at yourself in the mirror anymore.

A guilty conscience is good, only for a little while.

It sounds like your at the beginning of "enlightenment"...

You are reflecting on the things that the LORD, and Holy Spirit is putting forth in you...

Be glad and build upon it.

I wish you well...
