cook it with the skin on. otherwise, it dries out the meat.

I have never seen a "whole chicken" without the skin, chicken pieces or "cut up chicken", yes.
Depending on how I intend to cook it, will determine if there is going to be skin on or skinless, either way, it's good.
I haven't had to kill and clean a chicken since the depression, and don't miss this chore at all.

Normally when I buy a whole chicken, the skin is still on - helps to retain moisture because of the fat under the skin when cooking - I love crispy chicken skin, but hubby does not, so his portion gets the skin taken off after cooking..

Skin on...I always cook my chicken with the skin on it, even if I am not going to eat it (the skin). The skin is what helps keep the moisture and flavor in the chicken...the fat from the skin is what ADDS a lot of the flavor!

If im cooking a whole chicken I keep the skin on. It retains the juices of the chicken and adds to the flavor. It's easy to remove if I don't want to eat it.

definately with the skin. That's the best part =D and it also helps keep the meat from drying. With the skin, it gives a better taste to your cooking from the oil off the skin of the meat or rather the fat under the skin.

I find that the chicken keeps the juices better if cooked with the skin on, then I take it off before eating.

We buy whole chickens with the skin still on. It's cheaper then buying parts or already skinned pieces. We usually make baked chicken or chicken and dumplings with the whole chicken.

Depends upon the recipe. Sometimes you need the meat to be protected by the fat & skin. Other times you don't want the extra fat.

Boneless is another option. Sometimes you want the extra flavor the bones offer, such as when making a soup.

In general, I prefer it skinless and boneless.

skin off that is the most fattening part of the chicken so its much healthier that way. a friend of mine also butchers his own chickens and he gives them to us that way it's very tasty
if you don't want the chicken to get dry put it in a foil packet (with olive oil some garlic i love mine with bruscetta) when you cook it on the grill or in the oven

Definitely keep the skin on -- it keeps the meat from drying out when you cook it. If you're really trying to cut calories, pull it off after it's cooked.
