Exodus 20:4
No carved gods of any size, shape, or form of anything whatever, whether of things that fly or walk or swim. Don't bow down to them and don't serve them because I am God, your God, and I'm a most jealous God, punishing the children for any sins their parents pass on to them to the third, and yes, even to the fourth generation of those who hate me. But I'm unswervingly loyal to the thousands who love me and keep my commandments.

and this:

Exodus 34:17
"Do not make cast idols.

Leviticus 26:1
[ Reward for Obedience ] " 'Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it. I am the LORD your God.

1 Samuel 12:21
Do not turn away after useless idols. They can do you no good, nor can they rescue you, because they are useless.

"Neither shalt thou set thee up any image; which the LORD thy GOD hateth." -Deut. 16:22
[1] Look at the picture above one more time. Would you call that Eucharist cracker an image? Let me help you. An image is, according to Webster's, im-age (im'ij) n. an imitation or representation of a person or thing, drawn, painted, photographed, etc.; esp., a statue; a sculpted figure used as an idol.

i-dol (i'dl) n. an image of a god, used as an object or instrument of worship. [Didn't Karol say to worship the Eucharist?]; any object of ardent or excessive devotion or admiration [Didn't Karol say, "Eucharistic DEVOTION"?]

Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee. (Deuteronomy 4:23)

Adoration of Christ in this Sacrament of love must also find expression in various forms of Eucharistic devotion: personal prayer before the Blessed Sacrament [the Eucharist], hours of adoration, periods of exposition - short, prolonged and annual (Forty Hours) - Eucharistic benediction, Eucharistic processions, Eucharistic Congresses."
The mass is the center of Catholicism and the Eucharist (that little round wafer above) is the center of the mass.
"...[E]ucharistic worship is the center and goal of all sacramental life."

The Bible condemns idols that are worshipped.

But making images is not condemned in the Bible. In fact, the Hebrews were commanded by God to carve images onto the Ark of the Covenant, images of cherubim and seraphim.

So God actually commanded them to make graven images. But we should never bow down to them in WORSHIP.

That's the distinction.

Do you have Catholics in mind with this question? Catholics use statues for devotional purposes only - to call to mind Jesus Christ and the saints.

I assume you're mocking us Catholics. We do NOT worship these carvings. We use them to remind us of Jesus, Mary or the saint to whom we're praying.
