Usually about an hour. You CAN eat solid food, just stay aeay from anything really sticky like gum and candy because you run the chance of whatever your chewing to pull the filling out. Also, dentist will usually always tell you to wait until the numbness wears off so as not to bite your tounge and cheeks. Common sense to most, but you'd be surprised! =)

My doc tells me to brush and eat gently on the area for 24 hours. But I've eaten reg food and nothing happens. And I eat about an hour after. Good luck!

It depends on the material used in the filling.

If it is a resin composite (tooth-colored) filling, you can eat as soon as the anesthetic wears off.

If it is a silver amalgam, it needs at least 24 hours to completely harden and set.

Hope this helps.

I would wait a day before eating anything solid. but eat things you don't really need to chew like jello, milkshakes, those kind of things.

I just wait until the numbness is gone.

Did they freeze you? If so, I would wait until the freezing is gone. If they didn't freeze you, then you can eat right away.
