fry bread........
easy to make.
3 c flour,
1/4 tspsalt,
2 tsp baking poweder
3/4 water or milk
1 tbls oil
mix together till you get a bread like consistancy as a regular bread recipe. or you can make a bread recipe from what you can find on internet.
with the first....mix and ball into a bit larger then golf ball size peices. if you need to add a bit more water or milk to get good consistancy. flatten out. put in a hot pan with 3/4 full of oil that has been already heated. amounts in the recipe vary.....trial an error. but, that approx. brown on one side till a golden brown. then flip over and the same. some sprinkle salt on. you can add raisons if you want
the yeast recipe, follow the recipe, let rise, then punch down, then heat pan and do the same. ball up and golden brown both sides. enjoy.
my fry bread recipe. we have fry bread here to with native indian populations

I have had fried bread dough but never a fried slice of bread. Fried dough is good, even using the frozen bread dough from a store. Tear off about a 2 inch square piece of dough, drop in hot oil, turn it until it browns, and take it out. Either cut it while it's hot and butter it, or sprinkle sugar on it like a doughnut. Haven't thought of that for years, it's making me hungry! Thanks!

Depends on what part of the south.....Native Americans made a "fried bread" which starts as a dough and is fried...sorta like a flatbread...If he's been here his whole life he should be making you fried bread..... Cook him something you like that's native to where you are from...

Just mix up , self rising flour, oil or shortening , milk.
Fry just like pancakes in hot grease. Being part Cherokee Indian, I got used to that. We call it fry bread.
