My friend and I are having a friendly debate about alcohol consumption. One of us likes to go home and enjoy a beer or a glass of wine pretty much every day after a hard day's work. The other enjoys getting intoxicated on the weekends and doesn't think about alcohol at all during the week. Both of us find ourselves craving our individual actions. Who's the alcoholic? Both? None? What are your thoughts?

Neither of them said anything about driving. They are just talking about drinking. I don't think either of you are alcoholics. You don't mention your age, but I'm guessing you're both fairly young, and this is typical behavior for young adults.

Studies have shown that a glass of wine a day is good for the heart and prolongs life expectancy and reduces heart problems. So actually that the glass of wine everyday after work is the better choice.

Getting intoxicated isn't a really nice thing, regardless of when it is done.

Both can be thought of as alcoholic, but daily drinking is more of a problem long term, leading to physical problems and disorders. Short term drinking will also cause problems but also leads to some poor decision making, like drunk driving, etc...

You can be consider an alcoholic if you, always plan to drink on weekends.

When you drink on weekend's, do you drink to get drunk or do you tell people you stop when your limit hit's.

Drinking everyday after work is a problem, does he have a problem with something or somebody that get's to him. or does he do it to be satisfied.

Drinking every weekend is pretty much an alcoholic, and everyday after work.

From what I have read a daily glass of wine wont hurt you and can actually be good for you...but not more than one. Binge drinking is not good and people can die from alcohol poisoning. You also dont use good judgement when you are drunk which could lead to drunk driving, assaults, accidents etc.

I drink an average of a case of beer a day. Sometimes on the weekend I'm really off to the races. If you don't go to AA meeting's your both drunks If you go to meeting's your alcoholic. Well I need to get myself another beer later.

I know you have alot of answers to read, but I hope you will read this one.....After you finish reading this I want you to turn off the computer and turn off anything in your house, like the TV, radio, stereo, etc that is distracting. I want you to sit down in your favorite chair and lean back and close your eyes. I want you to think about the people you love most in this world. Your mother, sister, brother, best friend. I want you to imagine them laying on the ground with their legs cut off, bleeding to death. This is what happened to my best friend by a drunk driver. Stop this insanity before you are walking in my shoes and you will never drink again.

Daily drinking is worse for the individual, drunk driving is worse for the general public. Drunk driving is definately worse though because the people it effects have no choice in the matter.

Not sure which is worse. One drinks everyday but doesn't get drunk......one gets drunk but only on weekends. I personally don't see anything wrong with either one. Cheers!
