dropping your cals that low is going to slow your already slow metabolism to a craw. you never want to consume less calories than the BMR requires. instead of starving yourself you need to consume more smarter food items. the diet should be based on whole foods which are not processed and are still in the natural form.

Running a mile everyday would help, but it might be more beneficial in your position to walk/jog farther then a mile, in most cases distance and time is more beneficial then a mile sprint. I would also suggest some small wieghts to use at home, just to tone up, and burn a few extra calories while your watching tv or lying around. And be careful eating less then 1000 calories a day, that isnt neccesarily a healthy amount. Normal intake is at least 1250-1500. Its not a bad thing to eat if you're doing it right. Cut out junk, soda, etc. Makes a huge difference.Cutting out sodas alone(if you drink them) will shed the first 10 pounds quickly within a decently short amount of time. Hope this helps! I'm not a pro but I do work at a YMCA ;-)

1. Go to see a personal trainer who will measure your body fat percentage and your average calorie burn rate per day. Then calculate how many calories you need to maintain that, and then burn 500 more calories per day than you take in. That will mean you will lose about a pound per week. That's a good, safe pace, and you won't starve.
2. Eat only good, whole, organic foods.
3. Avoid all sugary and salty snacks, and all fast foods including pizza.
Eating less than 1000 calories per day is not sustainable for most people. You'll lose some weight, get tired of being hungry and then put it all back on in a flash. You need to make a lifestyle change to eating right and exercising right.

Starvation is never the way to lose weight. If its been said once it's been said thousands of times. First off, have you kept a diary of what you eat. Those that often suggest eatting less than 1000 calories often have no idea of how many calories are in what they eat. For one week write down every single thing you eat. Then look at what is the worst things that you eat.
Do you eat a lot of fast food? A lot of sodas? Do you always grab a box of twinkies before bed? Simple lil habits are easy to break and merely dropping out that can often cause people to lose the 2 lbs a week.
Next you need to consult a trainer. You have a lot of weight to lose and something you are doing is wrong as you have gained 20-25 lbs in a year. If you don't radically change your behavior, you will continue that increase and in 2 years it will be closer to 250. You need a radical life change. Consult with someone who has a degree and experience in nutrition and exercise. As you get more and more overweight, you have many health problems. It becomes harder for you to workout b/c your joints are being so much more strained.
A trainer can help you work out exactly how much you can do--its far more than you think on your own. You will want to quit and sit down and will complain that you are just too exhausted. But you aren't. You are far stronger and can do far more than that. Check out the biggest loser website--they have LOTS of GREAT suggestions for the lifestyle changes required. Find a workout buddy. You will be less likely to quit if you are sabatoging someone else by not showing up. You will have a friend to help motivation.
Do an hour of cardio a day. You can do anything--jump rope, walk in the neighborhood, biking, rowing, elliptical machine, anything that appeals to you. Just do an hour of it a day.
Then you need to work on the strength training part of this. A trainer can help you work out the best order of exercises and the best amount of weight to lift for weight loss.
Also look at Dr Phil's Ultimate Weight Loss Solution book. A lot of your problems with weight are in your head. You don't eat out of hunger but out of emotions. You also have a negative soundtrack in your head telling you that you are a loser, gross, worthless. You have got to stop that jerk in your head from saying that kind of meanspirited vicious things about you. If while you are working out you are dealing with the emotional needs food has been meeting for you and stamping out the negative energy in your life--you will find the weight coming off much faster.
Have realistic goals. Weight comes off slowly. Weight is lost about 1-2 lbs a week. If you expect to lose the 20 lbs in a month, your unrealistic expectations will cause your failure.

Eating less than 1000 calories is not a good idea at all no matter how much you need to lose. If your body is dependant on burning fat for energy because you aren't eating enough calories to sutstain basic live, it can produce too many ketones and potentially hurt your liver. It also lowers your metabolism because your body thinks it is starving and wants to conserve energy. Go for at least 1500. If you are eating healthy and running, you can still lose weight reasonably.

I just recently lost 35 lbs.
It's all about what you eat. You can excersize too if you want to speed up your weight loss but otherwise just do this:
Eat a 140 calorie granola bar on your war to school. Have an apple between morning and noon. Eat one of those 240 calorie lean cuisine for lunch or something around that calorie amount, like a homeade turkey sandwich, eat a banana between lunch and dinner time. Eat a meal under 350 calories for dinner. for exampe: Small portion of meat(beef, chicken, pork, lamb fish whatever) 4oz, salad, no dressing, wild rice 1/2 cup (uncle ben's 90 sec microwave instant rice). Snack on baby carrots if you get hungry before you go to bed. Oh and do not drink anything that has calories in it. If you do that you will be fine. Trust me, it works.

I recommend doing intense workouts, but dont worry do them in short spurts. You do want to cut down on the calories a bit more. As far as fruit goes do not eat the pineapple, that is going to maintain your weight. Eat grapes, papaya, and Pears. Those fruits will help break food down just the fact that they contain enzymes. Plus these are good the good sweets you can replace of chips.

your body needs at least 1000 to 1500 calories a day to basically function i.e. breathing, heart beating, brain function. just drink lots of water and eat lots of green vegetables and lean meat and stay away from anything with grains or flour in it because they are just empty calories

Its best to find your target heart rate and how much you burn when you run. Some people burn faster than others doing the same activity. You may want to find a book on it or talk to a trainer or a nutritionist.

1000 calories is too low. eat at least 1200, or your body will go into starvation mode.
