enroll in a martial art, ive enrolled in taekwondo, karate, jujitsu (american and brazillian).
thoes sports seriously bulk you up, and it makes you not really care that some1 says they can beat you up. if not just do a hardcore weight lifting program.
or the bad idea
next time some1 says i can beat you up knock them out....
risks:
your not as strong as you thing and might not hurt him
break hand
expelled/suspended
he might get back up and beat the hell out of you
friends might tackle you

Let them think what they want. But always be ready to kick the crap out of them if you need to. Think about it, this is your advantage. If people think you are weak they will fall for their own bravado; This will leave you an opening to punish them if you wait for it.
Anyone can get stronger, to answer your later question. I would go to a gym and ask someone to teach you the basic powerlifting moves, such as deadlift, squat, clean, snatch, ect. These moves are the key to incredible power. So many people use weight machines today, and while some look huge they are often weak. I was once doing heavy partial squats in a rack when a guy I knew came over. This guy was pretty big, and looked very strong. Did you know he couldn't lift the bar at all? He just winced and set it down....lol.
You might be stronger than you think, so why not find out?
Also, remember that half of your strength is mental. If you think you are strong, you will be strong. Those who doubt their power lack power. Test your strength in the basic moves I detailed above, and over time you will have "real world strength, that far outstrips guys who seem to have a genetic advantage, but are really bloated weaklings.
Take care, E

This is a tough question, and I probably can't give you an answer because I'm an adult. Adults don't have to worry about this stuff daily, because other adults don't judge the superiority of one individual over another by how "strong" they appear. Look at Bill Gates. Nobody worries if he's as tough as Chuck Lidell. The question never arrises. The benefits of the martial arts is that if something happens, you can take care of yourself in that emergency situation. It doesn't cure societal and social ills though. I feel for you, but won't suggest your "proving" your strength, as that would lead to you lessening yourself for the benefit of other's opinions.

Have you ever seen the movie "Enter the Dragon" by Bruce Lee? There is one scene where a tough guy challenges Bruce while they are on a ship headed to an island for a fighting tournament. He's asked what kind of martial art he does, and he responds "the art of fighting without fighting". He's then challenged to demonstrate it. Bruce agrees, and suggests that they get on the life boat and go out to a nearby small island to do this. He allows his challenger to board the boat first, and then does not get on. Bruce releases the boat, but allows it to be towed by tying it's rope to the ship. Don't be physically, emotionally, or mentally weak. The worst thing you can do is get involved with a conflict that is not necessary to get into. Of course, you want to maintain your diginity and honor, so use your brain. Think about scenarios and how they'd play out in your own mind. You may find one that works like Bruce did. But, think about them beforehand...as it is difficult to come up with them in the heat of the moment.

I haven't read the others who responded but let me tell ya looking weak can be a positive thing. Don't let ego get in your way. If you truly believe you would win then who cares, you know it. Don' worry about what others think of you, the most important person is you, and you said yourself that you believe you'd win. So the most important person knows it. Be the duck. Let the "water" slide off. Just let it go. Any ways I am not scared of the ones who say they could kick my rear. I'm more afraid of the guy that sits in the back and says nothing, even when confronted. Those are the real one to fear.

Britain took on Hitler in 1939 on my own together with her Empire States Canada Australia and so on. The charges have been excellent. They started the battle with out all of the machines and weapons that was once vital to win the battle. Hitler were arming within the mid thirties. Read Churchill's account of the Second World War. Not till the tip of 1941 did the U. S. input the battle. For 3 years Britain struggled to get the higher hand. The debt incurred through Britain left the broke and recuperation virtually not possible.

There's a saying that goes "Big men walk softly." which means that real men that are good at fighting don't go around proving it. I don't recommend getting into a fight just to prove your manhood. Also, if you ever do have a need to fight someone, its better if they have a low opinion of your skills. It will give you an advantage because they will underestimate you. You don't need to get stronger, but if you want to improve your image, take weight training and lift weights. People seem to think that if you can lift weights that you are tough.

my son deals with this in school too. I will tell you what he does. He basically jokes about it, he will use his humor to blow them off. My son has never been in a fight, but he also doesn't want to be thought of as a weakling, yet he doesn't want to get in trouble at school for fighting. So he will joke about it and say "yes, masta whateva you say masta" stuff like that....he just doesn't even give any acknowledgement to what they have said. For a while the kids at his school would call him a mexican...(he isn't mexican) but they would joke with him, he would tell me it made him mad....but then I told him that when he gets mad then it makes them do it more, he had to show them that it didn't bother him. So that was when he started with the joking thing. Now he is really good friends with the boys who started the mexican joke. Now my son will use a fake mexican accent sometimes when he talks to them and they laugh. I think it is all about having "thick skin" and never letting the other kids make you mad or get to you.

If you want to fight then ask your parents to sign you up for some lessons. If you don't care then don't care. Everyone has the same problem. There is someone out there that thinks he can kick your *** but he does not know you'll f*ck him up, the only thing you can do about it is let it go or f*ck him up. Eat more, start lifting everyday, that should be a good start.

"To win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the highest skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the highest skill." ~ Sun Tsu
Break some boards in front of your friends in the garage or invite them to your next sparring competition. The word will travel around that you're probably not as easy of a target as some believe.
Of course if you ignore them, they may just go away. The hardest thing to imprint on a HS age kid is that later in life you'll see how meaningless exchanges like the one in your Math class really are.

Think of it this way, there are guys who can talk and there are guys who can walk. You know you can walk, so let him talk, it's just talk. I've met a lot of tough guys, but the most dangerous ones, the ones who ended up in jail for heinous crimes were the ones who were the silent types, the ones who look like someone I could push around, the ones who talked tough were usually the ones who cries like a baby when they get their butts kicked.
