How can you tan naturally in your own backyard? When people say that water attracts sunlight and enables you to tan easier, does that mean that being in a pool swimming around can help you tan? Or does that mean you should douse yourself in water and just sit there?

being around water helps as the water reflects the suns rays,, but if you want to promote a tan wear a moisterizer,, i use the olay brands.. the oils act like a "basting agent" (think golden brown turkey) and only lay out for 40 minutes a day so as not tO "BURN TO A CRISP"...

I Lifeguard at a water park and let me tell you, water helps tan like no other! You could just go buy one of those plastic baby pools and tan in that!

I know if you're in the pool and the water is reflecting the sun onto your skin it will help you tan faster...by that I mean your head and shoulders because that is the part not submersed by water.
