We were together for almost a year, our breakup was horrible and very emotional. I also told him that I do not ever want to see him at places that I attend. He also cheated on me thinking that I would not ever find out.

Mind games. He knows what makes you tick, and wanted you to be at home doing what you are doing right now, wondering what did that mean? Whatever you do, don't use it as an excuse to call him, he wants to know how much he still has a hold on you. It was nothing, just keep moving on.

He smiled because he was being polite. Which would you have prefered a simple smile or that run up to you and curse at you? Come on, quit reading so much into nothing.

Would you prefer he would have frowned? Depending on the look on his face, it could simply be that he has sort of grown to respect you for sticking to your beliefs! For not becoming another victim of his abusive ways! You did well to leave him! and might have taught him a lesson or two, but he might have a lot more to learn! and you have a life to live... Enjoy it! as you go on making sure of all things! Take care! You sound wise for our age! Keep it up!

Who are you to tell him you don't want to see him at places you attend? It's a free country. If you think you're going to see him and you don't like the idea of it then stay your butt at home.
