Then why aren't there any additions to the Bible? Why are we afraid of adding on to an unfinished book?

I've read the Bible. I know what its about. What I'm asking is, why can't there be any more? Regardless of what the Bible says. Why can't anyone else have a say?

Many have quote in Revelations that nothing is to be added into the book.... Thats a fair statement. Nothing that is written AFTER revelations should be inserted into the compilation.

But along the way, between Genesis and Revelations, many books have gotten lost, and been recovered or rediscovered, but some of those were either deliberately left out, taken out and/or not allowed to be put into the collection.

These books are not adding to the collection, they are reconstituting that which was meant to be part of the Bible anyway...in all the missing pieces of the puzzle. And because of THAT thats why the book is incomplete till today. Its like putting a broken toycar back together, but refusing the hood coz it looks so much cooler having its engine exposed.

they try all the time. its called theology! you can either rip a page out or say it was written by someone who tried to say something else but lacked the words to do so. You can write a new paragraph and put it in or you can just say what the writer meant was something else. Its your choice to take the bible for what it says or to believe what people tell you what you must believe in the bible. For interest sake: They call the bible the inspired word of God witch is interesting because what they are trying to say is that the writers heard Gods voice and then wrote it down as they remembered it. Two problems: I don't care how good you are or trained, you would only be able to remember 50% at best and the rest that you write down would be made up and wrong!! Problem 2: There is no such thing as an inspired word of God. It is either The Godly inspired word of man or The word of God. Your choice. If the latter is true about the bible it means that the bible was dictated by God and that would explain the cosmic codes.

Agreed. It is crazy how many people referrence Revelations and say you can't add or take away from the Bible. The Bible was compiled and was organized by man. Revelations was not the last book written chronologically. Additionally, there are other places in the Bible that talk of not adding or taking away, and there is certainly many scriptures following them. Other places include Deuteronomy 4:2, which says: "You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you." Also, we find the following in Proverbs 30:5,6: "Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words Lest He reprove you, and you be proved a liar." My interpretation (which is only mine) is that God means that no one should add or subtract to that which he teaches, whenever that may be. I'm not sure why I would be upset if God decided to impart a little wisdom to us in our day. In fact, I'd probably be pretty stoked.

I agree. Why are there no more prophets? Why are there no more miracles? Could it be because god's all done with that showmanship....or could it be because it was all hooey to begin with?

To the poster above, the bible has been compiled, added to, edited, disassembled, etc. Do you own research before you start spouting off things about which you know nothing.

It was finished after Christ died on the cross. Have you even read the Bible? if you did you wouldn't be asking this redundant question. Revelations is the book of prophecy about the last days before the second coming of Christ, read and prepare your eternal soul for the rapture that is to come.
God Bless you.

The Bible is only one group of men's idea of "God."

God is All-That-Is, thus cannot be captured by any book.
