Laptop Jesus started it. She's tired of the silly thumbs down people give in this section. And I agree.
Mine actually doesn't make sense. It was originally a thumbs-up, but I turned the picture around. Which makes the hand in the picture physically impossible.
But hey, it's a religious section, why should it have to make sense.

It started with LJ, then Godzilla asked a question to christians that said something like "would you prefer it if all atheists had thumbs downs tattooed on their foreheads?" .. it's gone from there.

It is an Atheists way of trying to annoy Christians. They say we "thumbsdown" too much.
edit: It is pretty comical and I really like some of them. I have to say my favorite so far is Gorgeous's. It is pretty cute....
