I think they were going for a good story over a really flashy battle. I too would have liked to see a drawn out battle, but I was not all that dissapointed, they did a really good job of tying up some loose ends, and creating a lead on for the next season. Before the season finale i thought there would be no way for them to do a new season, but I think they did a great job of creating some new dangers. Also, I think Charles Deveaux has the same power as peter, because when they first started talking, he said," Invisibility, mmm, I always thought that would be a good power to have."

A lot of people were expecting this huge awesome battle. People were hyping it up in their heads and when it didn't happen they were let down.
I understand that thought but I think you have to remember that the show is not about "superheroes". It's about regular people that discover they have extraordinary powers. The writers would have been wrong to create an all out epic battle at the end of this season. The characters are still trying to understand themselves and their powers.
The character arcs this season gave Hiro confidence in himself to continue the fight and believe in himself. It gave Peter a chance to start controlling his power. If Peter started fighting like he's had the powers for years it would have been way out of character.
Overall, I think the season finale was pretty good. It closed the exploding man story, and left with a cliffhanger for the next season.

Yes I was a little disappointed too. The season started off very slow, but built the characters pretty well. I'm not sure what kind of time frame everything was happening in either. Remember when Hiro first found out about the explosion it was in the first few episodes and was suppose to happen in October (of '06?), but didn't actually happen until after an election (normally held in November).
Overall, I think they have built a pretty good foundation for future seasons. I'm just waiting to see how they say it all started.

Sorry Charlie, but I had a ball. And the reason for the showdown not lasting any longer w/Sylar is that he isn't dead, but will be back next season to wreak more havoc on our poor Heroes. I'm going to be trying to think up new theories before the new season starts, especially theories about Mama Petrelli. Also, I don't believe Nathan died.

I agree. I expected the match up between Peter and Sylar to be much better. I think the people hyped the show up way too much!!

they should have made the entire last episode the battle..Those two have so many powers and it would have been cool to see them used against each other...but three not very good fights in exchange...It is still my favorite show, but it was announced that it was going to be 2 hours long, and it was not..Sylar could have easily stopped Hiro and not been stabbed..with a simple wave of the hand, and poof...sylar could have melted the parking meter when Niki had it....alot more could have been explored..

I was very disappointed in the finale. It was very anti-climatic!
All of the storylines were too, I don't even know the word. And, they just need to kill Sylar off already - that's getting old!
