I have entered a competition, and the goal is to the egg stays "alive" after the crash. It is allowed to use various objects like baloons, plastics bags filled with water, vegetables, fruit etc. I should figure out a fun way to do it,but I'm running out of ideas!

hard boiling is not allowed,or freezing. straihgt-up fresh eggs are given to us at the competition

Also, after the egg touches the ground,it's a must that it touches the ground directly. Wrapping an egg with a couple of sponges wouldn't have been a chalenge, would it?

buy a baloon and fill it with water, then put the egg in the baloon. next, make a mini-parachute, (you could look at davinci designs for ideas) and try that, the egg will fall slowly, then the baloon will fall onto the concrete, and break, then the baloon will hit the ground, but the water will have cushioned the fall, and the parachute decreased the amount of speed, hopefully that will work, or you could create a harness for the egg, around the outside, not on the bottom, then attatch that to a wire, that's attatched to a pulley, so you drop the egg, and pull on the wire, fast and hard, so that itis an inch above the ground, then let it drop the inch or so to the ground, that way it's fallen an inch, not 50 feet, there was nothing to cover the bottom, and it touched the ground bare. yup, that'll work,
good luck!

I've seen many competitions and experiments involving this same principle...drop an egg from "X" height onto a hard surface, and keep it from breaking.

Most of the winners/successes I've seen involved some kind of parachute, along with some padding around the egg. I also think the egg will fare better if it's actually enclosed in some sort of frame or cage, and not just wrapped with cushioning (such as bubble wrap).

Let me know what you end up doing, and how it turns out.

I would build spherical cage and suspend the egg in the center with a system of bungee cords (made from balloons or rubber bands). When the cage hits the ground the inertia in the egg will be absorbed by the system of bungee cords. Just be sure they don't stretch far enough to splat the egg on the side of the cage and be sure they are flexible enough to allow enough movement.

You might also consider adding some sort of parachute to the top of the cage to slow it down before it hits the ground.

um go to mythbusters for egg myths, also put the egg in a cacoon like protective (something, anything) and tape it to the inside of a blown up balloon, tye another 8 balloons (the kind YOU blow up) and then let it go.

you could also get one of those punch-balls, fill that with water and put the egg into some bubble-wrap and put it inside the punch ball. (don't fill the ball up with too much water or you'll make it bust when it hits the ground.)

you could put it into the cockpit of a model airplane (one that has a protective covering over the cockpit) and let that fly to the ground.

UM....hmmm.Have you ever seen the movie 'Legend of Zorro' with Antonio Benderas playing Zorro? well when they're on the train ( that is carrying the explosive liquid) they have those bottles in a suspension cage. LIke the bottles were on these cradles and they were suspended by two shocks which were attached to the frame..So do something like that, build something with the shocks attached to the frame, and the frame a 3d replica of something like that which carried the explosives...so the egg would be suspended in the middle and the "cage" would be around it and open, then put shocks attached to the ring around the egg, and there you go, your own littlle shock, frame rigging.
good luck!

Dip an egg, a SMALL egg into Liquid Oxygen then quickly throw it up and it will have its insides frozen around the Shell sides immediately. When hitting the ground it will have hardened the shell so there would be an immensely smaller chance of cracking.

you could attach straw or pasta around it, it reduces the effect of the impact on the egg and it is possible for the egg to not break. it does work

Another thing you can do is put the egg in a bag filled with water and then take helium ballons attach them to the big, also , in the bag put a whole bunch of tissue paper or something to protect the egg, and make sure the bag is just heavy enough to make the ballons stay on the gorund

Go to a pool that is 50 ft. deep and drop the egg in the water.
One you are standing ground level when you drop it; the egg hast to fall 50 ft from above ground, or what we call ground level.
Two the water itself will break the fall of the egg letting it fall to the lower cement bottom of the pool, hopefully without breaking or cracking.

Tape the egg up real good. This way it holds up its shell. Then use soda straws and make a round cage around it. Tape it around the egg. The straws acts as a shock absorber when it hits the ground. Just keep building up the straw cage and test it till you have the right diameter size.

hmmmm....

Idea #1:
take egg
surround it with tissues and feathers
put it in a zip-lock container
crunch up balls of newspaper
tape them to the out side of the container
attach parachute

Idea # 2:
drop a chicken down to a trampoline and wait...

idea # 3:
you jump with egg into a rescue net

Good Luck

EDIT:
Oh, had another idea
take the beads from a bean bag chair
put them in a garbage bag
then put the egg inside.
