One of my pride and joys is my 4 year old Bishon Frise', Cloud. She has a chip in her, just in case she ever gets lost. We have moved, addresses and phone numbers have changed. How do I get the information on the chip updated to reflect the current of each? She has a collar and tags, but I would like the chip to be right as well. Her collar has broken while outside on the leash before, so I know not to trust the durability of any.
I would be heartbroken if I lost her. Please help with any resources..

Good for you for microchipping your darling poochie! I plan to do that as soon as I can afford it - and a tattoo as well so there's a permanent identifying mark (very few dogs are born with a number inside his/her leg).
Ask your previous vet to send in the information through their system.
Otherwise, call the company who manufactured the chip and maintains the database of information (your previous vet should have this). Give them the ID number - and ask for a change of address form to fill out.
It's a good idea to check a few days later just to make sure all the information is correct.

Call her old vet and find out. There is probably a telephone number or website that you will have to visit to get that information changed. Your old vet will have all the paperwork for the chip registration, etc if you don't have copies at hand. There are several companies that offer pet microchipping, so I can't refer you to a specific website. Avid and HomeAgain are a couple of the largest companies that microchip, and they have websites with toll free telephone numbers that you can call to update your home info.

Contact the company you got the chip from (there are several companies that make the chip) and just report your new info. You will need the registration info that you have on the chip with the number. Also, let your old vet know the new contact info in case he is contacted-my dogs chip asked for vet info on the registration papers.

Contact the organization that you registered the chip with, such as Avid or Home Again. If you don't have the original paperwork with phone numbers, do an online search. Avid still has to be contacted by phone or mail I think, Home Again can be updated online. If you can't remember who your dog is registered with, have your vet scan for the chip number, and then contact either of these organizations and they will check their records and either update for you, or you can register with them as a new client. Avid charges for updates, Home Again does not.

Do you know the manufacturer of the chip? Mine are Home Again and I just found their website, registered and changed it through there. For extra measure, there are some places where you can register her for free with the chip information.

Do you know what brand of chip she has? If so, contact the company - they should have a database in which you can register the information. Or, contact the place that gave your dog the chip; they can tell you what to do.

Contact the microchip company by phone or go to their website. They should have a form for this. There may be a small fee, but it's not much.
