Because it is all too confusing, I don't want to buy something and then have it taken away because it is not allowed.

Let me give you the website for the Transportaion Security Administration information. It gives a complete list of what can and cannot be taken in checked luggage and carry-on luggage.

Any liquid bottle that contains more than 3oz CAN'T be taken on an airplane.

So no water bottles that was bought outside security for example. Make sure ALL your makeup (if you are a girl) goes with checked baggage. Lipgloss and things like that can be taken on a plane but has to be placed in a clear plastic bag (that can be found before security) and has to go through x-ray.

The only difference these days is that you can't take any bottles that are bigger than 3 oz.

I know that you can have liquids only in 3 oz. bottles. For the rest of the stuff, you should go on the airport's website and see if they have a link to answer your question. Good luck.

If you buy something you're afraid they won't let you take on, just don't put it in your carry-on.
Make sure it's in your luggage and you should be fine.
If you're unsure, just ask the people at the desk.
