I felt pretty proud of myself when the security guy at the airport said "I wish all of our passengers were like you." I checked out the federal website and followed all the rules. All of your personal cosmetics (shampoo, conditioner, etc.) need to fit into a 1 qt. clear plastic zip-lock bag. Now really - are you going to be washing your hair while in flight? NOPE. So why not put that sort of thing in your checked baggage, anyway? I carry a bit of lipstick and mascara, eye shadow, a small amount of foundation and a sample size of toothpaste in my carry on. That way I can freshen up before the plane lands... I fly Seattle to Amsterdam, so I need a little spritzing up after 10 hours of being cramped up & sleeping. The rest of my "lotions & potions" are safely tucked away in the cargo hold.
