those who are just beginning their journey by discounting the devotions that the young ones use to help stay faithful? I think of St. Paul who talks about the younger ones needing milk while the mature ones do not but, what happens if you take the milk away from the young ones? I think they starve.

There needs to be an equal amount of milk and meat especially when a pastor teaches or a teacher teaches. It should be for the entire group. And truth is I have seen churches only talk of the milk with no meat and those that are needing meat starve as well.

Yes it was Paul and he said that babes in Christ need milk before meat. I don't think that means "discounting the devotions that the young ones use to help stay faithful" In fact I'm not real sure as to what you are saying there.

Are you implying that Elders somehow stifle young Christians in some way? How, what are they discounting?

I think a little more context is required in order to answer your question. Feel free to email me through my profile with any additional info if you wish to further pursue this.

can't answer without knowing what "devotions" you are referring to... there are many practices that some use that are not appropriate... not according to The Word and Will of God... and The Word and Will of God is the only guide those of The True Christian Faith have to follow... it matters not what level of "maturity" in The Faith one has achieved... if it is not according to The Word and Will of God, for the individual, and for The Body of The Church. then it is inappropriate.

that said... some olders do indeed get too heavyhanded with the youngers... and that applies to whatever age the "younger" is... any one new to The Faith should receive proper instruction... appropriate to the cronological age and the spirtual age of the individual...

It all depends on who the person with the faith says and does to do the damage. Not all people with faith will push and shove beliefs. Some do because they believe they know it better than anyone else.......those are the people that could cause damage to young minds.
Showing faith in a loving way will brighten who you are and everyone around you.

"if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know" (1 Cor 8:2 NKJ)

Which is why Jesus said, "Remember with humility how much remains unknown to you, yes, unseen, and doing so, you may see more clearly."

We are all children, innocent and pure, and as children we should not be so quick to want to grow up and believe we are mature.

Peace and Love

Edit:--- When one has been anointed by the light, no damage can be done to them; for darkness cannot pierce the light. Thus, the only damage that can be done is that which the 'young' inflict on themselves. (damage is in the eye of the beholder)

Maturity does require an understanding that the needs of the young in faith are truly different.

I've had to come to terms with the very real need of my children to have some kind of concrete spiritual foundation at the very time that it has become important to me to concentrate on the formless behind the form.

Certainly many must start out as babes but we are also not to remain babes nor go easy on those who refuse to grow in their faith.

1 Corinthians 13: 11 says there comes a time to "Put away childish things."

And we a re not to be "children in understanding." 14:20.
We are to continue testing our faith and working out our own salvation so in that respect, it is never too good to get complacent and declare yourself, "All knowing!". That does not show humility.

Everyone should have "milk" the world tries to corrupt faith. I do not care how "mature" you are.

Nondescript...you really should not talk about things you have no understanding of. You do have faith in evolution, and there is absolutely no logic or proof of that. It takes far more faith to believe in evolution, especially when time and time again, science contradicts itself.

For example if you compare the scientifically accepted age of the earth, and the scientifically accepted time it would take to carve the Grand Canyon...The Grand Canyon is older than the earth. Of course you do not see that on the same page in a magazine.

First of all,

I don't think anyone should base their faith on answers here, or anywhere that statements cannot be scrutinized.

Get a general feel and go study for yourself and go to a physical Church to learn about the faith, from real people.

There are people posing as Christians on here just to be mean and make us look bad, I am sure the same thing happens to Atheists and Muslims as well.

Good Luck and God Bless!

I think those who think they are mature in their faith could damage anything because if you think you are mature in your faith you are very immature. And probably worse off than "young ones" their beliefs are more mature as they havent been indoctrinated to the extent as "mature followers" have.
