I have had my palm read twice by the same woman two years in a row at a Renaissance Festival that comes to my town every fall. The first time the woman read my palm it was so accurate that I was completely shocked. She told me things that a stranger could never possibly know and a good bit of it made me very emotional. I had been going through a tough time recently (before the palm reading) because I had been involved in an abusive relationship. The palm reader described my ex (the abuser) to a T without me ever telling her a word about myself. She described him and the nature of the relationship and told me what path I was headed down if I did not distance my self from him completely. This is what sticks out most in my head about the reading - it really shook me.
My second reading, however, wasn't quite as accurate. I think that during my first reading I was a little bit more niave and basically an open book meaning I wore my emotions on my sleeve so I was easy to read. By the time the second reading was done I had closed up a bit and wasn't as quick to share personal troubles. I think it is true that they make broad statements, gage your reaction, and run with what they read off of you. I believe that they are more likely people-readers and palm readers.

Stay away from it.
God's plan is better than anything you need to be told by any psychic.
I know this because I WAS a psychic myself. It is VERY real, but that DOESN'T mean people should dabble with it.
There are very good reasons the Bible tells us that.
There are some things we as human should not know or involve ourselves in and I regret so much now being mis-lead and going down that path now I have learnt the truth of it all.
I am so lucky and blessed that I left it with God's grace and strength.
If you want to know your fortune:~
1. Trust in the Word and use your Bible for solace, because all the answers you will ever need are in that book.
2. Ask God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit for guidance and comfort.
3. Seek communion (gathering) with your Christian community.

I had my palm read when I was teenager (grew up in an atheist home) and I was told that I would live a long life and be an actress and would have one child. I won't know if I will have a long life until I die, at the age of 32, I will never be an actress and I do not have children.
However, I was also told that I would have to choose between two men (as my love life splits in half). This did happen to me. I chose my husband over another man who was unreliable. I don't think this is proof that palm reading is true, but it is interesting.

I have read my horoscope in the newspaper. And one has said that I have a firey personality, with a good heart. I am persistant and yet understanding to other people. My bday is Sept 10, 1973...And it has been fairly close, nothing is accurate. But, it is fun to see how good people can guess. I read those out of curiosity more than I do because I believe them.

before I knew any better I did (three times)...
Interestingly enough...the first time was so generic and silly (I wasn't even a teen or was early teen at that) that even I could see the "seer" was a "sayer".
The other two times I did, (after I secretly accepted Jesus (as a juvenile) -without fully having His word available to me, etc) ...the Lord prevented those trying to read for me from doing so.
Flat out - they got started on their business and just QUIT - right out. No joking. They just looked goofy - telling me.."i don't know - the cards are weird" or "oh this must not be a good time" "I'm distracted"..."lemme try again"
How is that for total love from the Father???
I was such an idiot! I was totally inept at keeping an eye out for myself and being hindered from it at home and the Lord kept me from doing something I shouldn't be doing -kept hidden secrets hidden and all.
He's SOOOO Glorious - I never fully realized the impact until just now answering your question. Thank you, Sister.

I had a reading done by the tarot cards. The lady who did my reading was right on a couple of things (others are still to come true).
She told me my sister would give birth to a girl (my sis was pregnant at the time and already had three boys). She did indeed give birth to a girl.
She told me I would have a baby boy and for some reason the number 2 was significant in that....turns out, years later, I married my second husband and we had a baby boy. That's just to name a couple of things she saw in the cards.
I never told her a thing about my life...she just asked me to shuffle the cards and she took it from there.
Addition: I honestly thought at the time, that she was wrong about me having another baby. My daughter was already in high school and I was still with my first husband who can't father children....so, that was a huge surprise.

I had a tarot reading done at a fair once when I was a Christian. It was bull of course because it was too specific.
But I don't think being Christian has anything to do with stuff like that....you read your horoscopes don't you?

It's a good question and you have many answers but I might just add one here.
In the book of 1 Corinthians Prophecy is listed as one of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit. As a catholic I think you believe other things to be the gifts as I have read some Catholic websites on the gifts of the Spirit.
But here is the verse.
7Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
The gift of knowledge listed here is an ability that I have that allows me to tell a person specific things about their life and personality and situations without knowing them. The gift of Knowledge is a good way to start a conversation I have found as it was used by Jesus with the woman at Jacobs well.
He said you have had six husbands and the partner you have now is not your husband. She replied, I percieve you are a prophet. Of which Jesus was.
The gift of knowledge has a counterfeit that pyscics have but the spirit that gives them the knowledge about a person is an evil spirit.
The message of wisdom above also is a prophetic gift. The message of wisdom is the Lord Jesus' direction for a person to take in a specific situation. This isn't nice advice, this a personal message from God, say that, this man in your life should not be the one you are to marry. The men in the Bible's Old Testiment that were prophets used to use this message of wisdom when they gave a king a specific way to fight a war. When it was followed the nation of Israel had a victory when it was ignored they had heavy losses.
The gift of prophecy is a gift that allows you to speak a message to a person or a body of believers in a church meeting ot in an article, that is a relevant and personal message from God and his throneroom to that person at that certain time and place. I have typed prophecies that included words of knowledge and mesages of wisdom in them also that have gone for ten pages.
The people of the world seek out prophecies from the wrong side because most of the church believe and teach that prophets do not exist anymore since Jesus last disciple died and that the gifts of the Holy Spirit passed away with them.
This is balloney.
I have personally accuratly given over a thousand prophecies to people online via email and in person and I have seen tears of joy in peoples eyes as I have delivered the personal ones.
Jesus knows your future and He has equiped people on earth to flow in the Spirit and use the three aformentioned gifts.
I am very practiced in them and in only three times have a accepted a gift of money after doing it.
Tonight a guy offered to buy me a hambuger after giving him obe about his current life and his future..
If this was voted best answer people might want to email me and I'll pass them onto two prophets that work on a website of mine and we'll see what Jesus says to them.
Phycics all have the ability if saved and filled with the Holy Spirit to be modern Christian prophets as they all have highly developed intuition where the Holy Spirit speaks though.
I have never consulted one but I cannot blame anyone that has. If the Christian church isn't offering it people can go to good hearted people in the occult and seek answers.
Be blessed
Oh yes and in your tradition I would be called a modern day mystic

Deuteronomy 29:29
The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.
Knowing the so called future or hearing things that seem to relate to the future is dangerous. Is it not what eve did when she listen to the serpent? Trying to have fun in this case can actually put us on dangerous ground.

No, because fortune tellers rely on demonic power. They may be accurate, since the demons unleashed will manipulate things to make them happen. A christian with the gift of prophetic words would be a much better option.
