I always thought that if you believed you had a destiny that you were also expecting to get there no matter what path you took, so it was a scapegoat to not put effort into your own existance.
At least, that's how an old pal of mine explained it.
You can control your life, but if you're looking to control your destiny good luck to you. You'd have to know what it is you are destine for first.

neither. Destiny is simply one Path that we can either choose to follow or not. My destiny is as a writer. But I can choose to never pick up a pen again. However, knowing what my destiny is, I now know that my life would be far more fulfilled if I follow it. But no, at every step, I have free will and the ability to choose either right or wrong, the Path of Destiny or another Path.

Why? Are you letting someone control your destiny? That could be bad. So, if anything goes wrong with your life, you mean you are not responsible and it is the fault of someone who controls it. Is that it?
What happens to your Free Will then?

Of course. We control our destiny everyday with the choices we make.

Yes. So long as you have the ability to choose. Every day we make various simple or complex choices that affect our lives and therefore our destiny.
You choose to get up in the morning (you could always lay in bed).
You choose to work to pay your bills (you could always choose to live on the street)
etc.

I believe that at this point in time, we must act as though we do. it is the only way.... but if you look back on your life, you see how every twist and turn has led you to where you are now... if one tiny thing was different your life wouldn't be what it is today.... so in reality it was all destined.......sorry i dont know if that made sense to anyone but me

Yes, we all have the power to shape our destiny. Too many give the power away to others. When you listen to others telling you how to live your life, you are losing that power.

of course, to some extent. You've got two doors...you make the decision which one to open and walk through.
