No, because if you make it illegal to own them then only people who abide by the law will be unprotected, while those who obviously don't care about the law anyway will own them anyway!!

Are you nuts?!? If someone kicks in your front door and you call 911 instantly, and(for the sake of argument you're not put on hold)tell them you have an intruder (garrenteed he has a gun, or at least a knife)the fastest response time you can hope for is 5 min. In that 5 min. the criminal has killed you, your wife, and any one else that may be in your home! The police will arrive just after he has left, just in time to call the corenor and have your bodies removed. Meanwhile the thug that killed you is driving to the next victims house in your car counting your cash!!!! this is a best case senario. When guns are outlawed those who do not respect the law will still have guns, thus making us a Nation of victims!!
Now for the worst case: people with the no guns mentality are successful, (Hitler banned guns almost as emmediatly upon taking power)then we manage to elect a fascist to power, they delare the Constition null and void, the you no longer have free speach, or any other freedoms that we currently enjoy! It's very simple the Right of every American to keep(own)and Bear(CARRY)guns is the only insurance we have it was writen into the Bill of Rights so we the people could protect ourselves from tyranical government. The 2nd Amendment supports the intire Constiution, without it your freedom will disappear!!!!
Many nations have proven this for us.When a gov't can take your guns then they can take anything they want.
Ather fact for you. A restaining order is court ordered protection right? However the police see it's enforcement as optional!!
In short my guns insure your freedom.
Do you know want criminals fear? They don't fear law enforcement, or even prison, no they fear an ARMED CITIZEN!!!
If the gov't manages to outlaw guns the will be a CIVIL WAR in the US!!!!

Thank you for you question.
Ling live the 2nd Amendment!!!!!!!!!!

Note to willow the US Military is NOT A MILITA, it is a dept. of the government under gov't controll if the gov't goes bad they take the military with them, a Milita Is an armed population. I own several guns, I have a carry permit in texas. Ive never seen one of my guns comit acrime, they can,t they are inanimate oblects, STOP CRIMINLIZING GUNS FOR PEOPLES BAD ACTS, GUNS DON' KILL STEAL AND DESROY, PEOPLE DO THAT , AND IF THEY CAN'T GET A GUN THEY'LL USE A CLUB!!!! the first murder was not commited with a gun!!!!

NO. Police are only there to keep the peace. Not to specifically protect you.
They will come after the crime is committed, but will that help you heal faster? Or stay alive? NO. Criminal are criminals because they DON'T obey the laws. There has been many a poll taken of prisoners in jail, that asked the question, "do you check out the areas you rob to see what the gun laws are before you act?" and most robbers say, yes, cause in the areas where there is the most gun control, they know they have little or no worries about the citizen they are targeting being able to stop them. That's why the crime rate is so high in areas like NY, or Washington DC. Criminals know citizens aren't allowed to own weapons, so they have a free and clear field in which to operate. In England, the crime rate shot up after people were forced to turn in their guns. They don't have a strong Constitution like we do here to protect their rights of defense. Same thing in Australia. You'd think people would learn from mistakes like that.

BAD IDEA! As many have said before me, if you outlaw guns, only the outlaws will have guns. And I don't know about you, but I'd feel alot better about defending myself against a maniac with a gun if I have a gun.

We do not need to limit ownership of guns. All that would do, is allow for the bad people who pay no attention to the law anyway to lord their reign of terror over us as we would have no way to fight back. We need people to realize that the guns themselves are not the issue. The crazy bastard that shoots people is the issue. And no matter what you do, your not going to stop all the crazy people from being crazy.

Also, why is it that guns are the only inanimate object onto which we lay blame for the stupid things people do? We don't do it with cars. More people die in car accidents every year in this country than are killed by guns. Where is the "outlaw the cars" movement. Hey, it would be another way to save some lives because that's what we need is more people living longer and draining my social security fund.

F that, I say we thin the heard a little. Everytime some idiot goes on a killing spree we end up with a few dead, which is unfortunate, but usually the asshole who did the shooting is also dead. In that case, I would call that win for the rest of society who no longer need to worry about that crazy bastard and we can now start worrying about other things, like whether or not I have my seat belt on in my car. Eat sh!t and have a nice day.

SCOTUS has decreed at least twenty times police don't have to respond to a call. Even if they do the average response time by the LAPD is 15 minutes. If a person's throat is slashed it can take only thirty seconds for a person to bleed out.

There are too many times that the police arrive just to draw a chalk outline around a body.

Besides, the Founders intended Americans to be self-reliant, not reliant on government.

if so then how could we all protect our selves in the neighborhods that have shootings?? how would we protect our families that need the protection.. having a gun is alot easier and alot faster then calling the cops just think if you were in a situation that you had to use a gun or call the cops what the **** would you do if the cops showed up after you were dead .. then you would wish that you had that gun that you limited to just police or security officers....

The only people who abide by such laws are people who are law abiding citizens already. Have such laws helped the British or Aussies reduce their crime rates… no! Take a minute to read the Bill of Rights and thank God for all the men and women who have used guns to give those rights to you. Also take a minute to review the Texas CHL laws and how crime has dropped since law abiding citizens have started carrying guns.

No, for more reasons than I can list here. not the least of which then the general citizenry would be unarmed against armed criminals. and a lesser known fact in this country is that should the government get out of hand it is not only our right, but our responsibility to revolt and restore a government FOR the people BY the people. sadly it looks like it may come to that, hopefully not in my lifetime.

Too late. Millions and millions of guns in the U.S. If a law were passed today - there would be billions of dollars made blackmarket. By the way - if you believe this then you should post a notice on your door "No guns in this house".

Actually, lets take Alaska for example. People are allowed to carry a handgun. The state has a very low crime rate.

RIGHT TO BARE ARMS! Don't change the constitution...immigrate to another country that is a police state.

No i dont think so. It infringes on my right to bare arms as a constiutional right living in the US.

Just because it would be limited police and security officers doesn't mean they are upstanding citizens. It doesn't mean they will only use it for the protection.
