The lack of proof is the main reason. Jesus is the savior, he was the king of the jews... but yet nobody wrote down the date of birth or the date of his death.... Kind of odd for such an important man. There are stories that predate jesus that are very simalar to jesus, so it sounds like some 'christian' altered an existing story to make a good one for Jesus. Mitharadis was born on Dec 25 in aManger... This was one of the main competitors for early christianity. But the mitharadis story predates the jesus story by 200 years. No christian can explain that. g of bout the statement that Jesus was the king of the jews. During Jesus's life there was many revolts against rome by the jews. Why didn't jesus help them. Can you imagine the effects god would have had on a roman legion. But yet there is no reference of jesus ever dealing with the roman empire. Too many historical inaccuracies for Jesus to be real.

What reasons can you give me to believe that some guy walked on water, raised the dead, cast out "demons", healed people with a touch, and so on?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. A single book writted by Bronze Age desert nomads is not enough to support the claims.

Because the smart ones can see the bible for what it is. A great work of fiction for the time period. And why would I want to spend my life living according to what some dude said MILLIONS of years go? Why would I want to worship someone I needed to fear? Why worship someone who let things happen like the Holocaust? What PROOF do you have of Jesus or God? And for the love of pete don't give me that "you must have faith" crap, cause I have heard it too many times.

Because that deity is not of my religion. Do you believe in deities that are not of your religion? So why would you expect people of other religions to believe in your deity? I would be as likely to worship a deity of a different religion as you would be. But I will happily support your rights to worship whatever deity/ies that you choose and I will respect your views even if I don't agree with them.

I am an atheist... I do consider that back in the day there might have been some guy name jesus... who was a schizo... but above that... I have no reason to believe in jesus... it interests me to study him... and others who do believe in him... but I have done research and considered... there just isn't any proof... he ever exsisted...

There is no evidence that Jesus was the son of God or even existed.

Selfishness and/or greed. The religious leaders of the first century - the scribes and Pharisees - had ample evidence concerning Jesus. Still, they refused to believe and rejected him.
Sometimes people are simply not rightly disposed toward such.
The truth is not everyone will believe.

I wonder the same thing reversed. For my part, there was a time in my life when I tried,I mean I really, really tried to believe. I just do not have the capability to believe. No matter how hard I tried,I could never believe it was anything other than make believe. Could you MAKE yourself NOT BELIEVE?

Well, I can only speak for myself and say that I'm Jewish so that's why. Jesus did not fulfill all the requirements for the Messiah, so he's not it, in my opinion.
