Well, all cruise lines have great secruity features/procedures they go through - but that doesn't make them 100% safe.

I mean a few years ago, many of us though air travel was close to 100% safe and look what happened.

Sadly, nothing in today's world is 100% safe from anything.

But that in mind, no matter where you are, you could possibly be in danger - so don't let that stop you from having fun in life.

Is it safe to travel by cruise ship - yes.

As pointed out, there are extensive security procedures in place for cruise ships. Passenger manifests are screened, all passengers are screened prior to boarding, security personnel patrol the piers and waterways around ships, ship's have onboard security teams, plus there are plenty of measures that you can't see.

However, like everything in life, there is no 100% guarantee that nothing will ever happen. A determined person or group of people can defeat any security system. Something could happen, however it doesn't mean that traveling on a cruise ship isn't safe.

Yes they are. They not only check your baggage but also, according to the captain of the ship were were on last week, they make additional checks on passengers. Remember that people have to provide a passport and/or all other kinds of ID to get on ship. Then at every port access to the ship is strictly controlled by the country port officials and the cruise ship safety staff. They know exactly who is getting on and off ship and when and where.

The cruise lines are rightly not going to say exactly what and how they do things but they make every effort to keep terrorist off the ship.

yes, they check your baggage on the ship the same way the airlines do, and you are not allowed to purchase harmful weapons on islands and bring them aboard,
