Is this bad? Darn near everywhere I go there'll be a guy who will chat with me for at least 5 minutes and then ask for my contact info. I used to be alright with it, but then I realized how guys would only email like twice and then never talk again.....or would be stalker-like. Now, whenver a guy asks for my email or phone #, I always decline. I can't stop being suspicious of guys. I don't want anyone to manipulate me or turn out to be a nightmare. I'm 18 and haven't had a boyfriend, but I'm okay with that. Sometimes I do wish more than anything that I had boyfriend who loved me, but my own stubborness won't allow it. What do you think? I'm going to be going to college soon and there will be plenty of guys to meet, but should I let my guard down? Am I making any sense at all?

Never let your guard down! especially with those types of Men.
Concentrate on going off to collage, there quite a few good Men around, bare in mind though that, not all that glitters is Gold, the key is getting to know that man first.

You are one smart young woman, you are definitely on the right track!

Ya gotta becareful, More creeps out there than can be imagined. One thing you could try is a secondary email acct that you could use to screen them. Also where ya meet people at can say something about them. If you want to meet a drinker go to the bars. Want a religous person go to church functions, but the best thing to do no matter what is to take your time. Dont rush into it or you could end up with an abusive drunk that hides in churches.
As a dad I dont trust anyone.

I understand where you are coming from. You don't want to be vulnerable, and I don't blame you. As far as college is concerned, perhaps you might want to try thinking of the opposite sex in a less serious way and socialize with different types. Before you can fall in love, you have to like the boy. Like anything else, it is a learning process. Maybe this type of mindset would make you feel less vulnerable and more in control of the situation. When a boy asks for your contact info. turn the tables and say "why don't you give me yours" then it is up to you. You can call them, or chuck it in the trash.

Whaaaat?

How about you just go with the flow and do what you feel at the time? Because if you make plans for your life as well as you planned out this question, going with the flow will yield significantly better results than any life plan you have.

In today's world you have to be careful and you have every right to be protective of your feelings. There are some good guys out there . Instead of giving them your phone # I would just give them my e-mail or cell # that way you have some control .
