The prophetic accuracy of the Bible did it for me.

The one thing that absolutely convinced me there isn't a god, was at a time when I wasn't quite sure.
But the clinching moment was 9/11. I'm sorry but no God would want some of his 'children' to sacrifice themselves or sacrifice any of his other children. There was no purpose to these attacks, except to cause hatred among his followers. And I have always been led to believe that Christians and Muslims worship the same diety (just a different name).
A real God would take charge, and show himself, in a manner that no-one could disbelieve his presence, and order than all factions stop their fighting, in his name.
For those who want proof of his non existance, there it is!

Why do I have to be absolutely convinced on the non-existence of something?
Are you absolutely convinced on the non-existence of unicorns, dragons or a celestial tea pot? How can you be absolutely convinced?
I am not absolutely convinced that dragons do not exist. However, I am not planning on getting asbestos underpants or spiky anti-dragon armor just in case I meet one tomorrow.
The same with god(s). I require some evidence that they exist. The fact that the answer to some deep questions is 'we do not know (yet).' is not sufficient to conclude that God Did It.

Personal experiences. When I was 14 we lived in the south and had a chicken farm. Every time a grow out goes out you have to clean the inside. Well I had and then plugged in a electric wench and ran my hand down the cord. Well I got electrocuted. I screamed witch is unusual. l was looking at my hand and saw another hand knock the cord out of my hand.
Logic tells you that I will not be able to move while electricity flows through my body. The only way it will stop is if falls out of my hand or overloads the circuit. So where did the hand come from. My friend that was with me didn't see my hand move, but saw the cord fly out of my hand. I believe. I only had a third degree electrical burn. And if it was my other hand parable would of died. My grandfather checked the circuits and they didn't overload.

You can't explain the ORIGIN of complexity by postulating a prior greater complexity.
The probability of a context free closed system state uniquely existing on its own is two raised to the negative k power where k is the Kolmogorov Complexity of the system in bits.
For example take a system with one bit, there are two states on or off, the probability of the state on existing with no exterior context is 1/2. With two bits the probability of any given state is 1/4. with three bits we get 1/8 etc.
Since theists define a context free god which is infinitely complex the probability of finding a context free god in such an infinitely complex state is zero.

When I talk about God I am talking about transcendence, from a panentheist perspective, so I am not talking about something that is a being among others, separate from the universe, but the transcendant reality of which we are all a part. As such, there is no question that we are part of something bigger - existence itself cannot be questioned, and Paul Tillich helpfully described God as Being itself.
As for what provides substance to that belief, for me it would be a spiritual experience I had of surrendering to God and being overwhelmed with a sense of peace; experiences of the beauty of music and of the universe also point me in a similar direction.

I could either believe in some higher power that causes everything to happen, a power that i have never seen or felt, or i can believe the world is just as it is. There is no concrete evidence either way, so why give someone else credit for my actions.

I believe a God exists, just not the Christian way (Deism). The thing that convinces me He/She doesn't exist? Hmmm.....I have no idea, maybe if I saw the "Zero minute" of the universe's beginning, and see for myself that there was no deity involved, otherwise, I believe a god exists.

The Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit produces a feeling in my heart that I do not feel in connection to any other thing on Earth. It is unlike any other feeling I know. It only comes in the context of hearing, reading, speaking about religious topics. It indicates to me that God lives and that his teachings are true.

There isn't evidence to prove that he actuall does exist, just man's accounts of what they thought was god. God exist within yourself...there is no higher being than you. If it can't be explained through mathmatics then it doesn't exist. Everything can be explained through math and science...everything

The human spirit.
I suppose we could explain it to science, but I am in the mind that science simply explains how the Gods do it. I'm a romantic scientist I suppose LOL
The world would be a boring place with out the magic of faith.
