I'm not questioning my faith in God or anything like that, a friend visited us the other night and we just got into a discussion about religion and the Bible. I thought that I had seen a scripture refering to something like that. And to my first answer, thats greed honey, get over yourself.

No. There is a place (in the story of Samuel) where a husband claims he is better for his wife than 10 sons. But that doesn't mean he really was, or that she agreed!

Here's a scenario:

A man brings his pregnant wife to the hospital for delivery of the baby.
Something goes wrong and the doctor is in the hallway speaking to the husband saying that there were complications and only one (baby or wife) can be saved.

Which should the husband choose and why?

And...no, you will not find the verse you are looking for above. It's not in the bible, however the idea is.

The man would ask the doctor to save his wife.

There are a couple of reasons;

1. In the sight of God this marriage (man and woman) are one flesh.

2. In marriage there are commitments that should be respected and honored. one is to protect the other spouse.

3. I can always have another child in birth, but I could never have the same wife if she were to die.

Good luck.

Here is a good writing by St.Thomas Aquinas - I'm not sure what "chose" means but in the order of love husband/wife comes before children.

To answer the person below, that is very very rare that someone would have to chose between baby and mother. It is the job of the parents to try save BOTH lives.

When you DO find the answer to this question remember this... The Aryan brotherhood can point out verses that perfectly justify the killing of jews, and seperation of race as well.

if you stop believing in fairy tales and follow your gut your life will be much, much happier/better. i think you know the answer to that one, you don't need the bible to tell you what it right!
