Amen!

However, I tend to feel that religion is good. Even though it does have the tendancy to blind the flock, it still gets the truth out there (in a limited form)...

Truth is not something that can be taught, but something that must be learned by each of the flock, individualy within themselves.

If there were no religions, opinions, thoughts, etc. going around at all, even fewer people would come to find the truth.

And, in my opinion, that would be less productive than placing those blinders on the flock initially, in order for them to realize that they can, and must, take those blinders off.

Religion can get in the way sometimes, but it has yet to cause me to reject "truth" or give up seeking it. It isn't the "message". It's sometimes the "messenger" though. Dogma is dogma, I find it sad to see dogmatic thinking getting in the way of "truth", and find that in both some of the theists, and some of the athiests...
Truth is where you find it.

I find it sad that you're obviously searching for some type of meaning. You're questions today are classic examples of a person really searching their soul for meaning. You refer to theists as a joke to society when theists clearly make up the majority (I'd like to see who ran that study), now you pull this question out of nowhere.

Even your avatar looks like a pathetic gorilla searching for answers. Well sir I hope you find those answers and I hope you find them before it's too late.

I think the greatest disappointment in my life is that the forces of ignorance and superstition so often appear to be winning. Imagine where humanity could be, it our ancestors hadn't invented imaginary gods. It makes me weep.

Jesus said in the Bible that none is good except God. So where is any one who is good person who rejects the truth. Anyway, anyone who rejects truth is already untruthful or a liar or bad. How can he be good when he rejects truth?

I find it more sad that so many otherwise intelligent people reject God.
