Question

Ok... well many people say that the most effective spells are the ones you create yourself. But really, what does that mean? How can something you just make up work? like... for instance if i do this thing: If i wanted to remember my dreams, i'd take a blue candle, carve in the word "Dreams", light it, and go to sleep. And i really believed that it would work, but i made it up. How would it work? its just somethign i threw together?

so can someone please explain? thank you.

Geez, what is up with you stupid people? Witchcraft IS real and it's NOT 'evil'. If anything is 'evil', it's the way you talk. 'God' this 'n 'The Devil' that... Please...

Things like that you make up 'n just throw together supposedly work, because it's mind over matter. Like if you gave someone a sugar pill instead of the real thing. As long as they don't know it's a sugar pill, their minds will tell them drug-of any sort-is working. If you believe a blue candle will work, then it will...

But if you really want something that people say has worked, try using something from witchcraft if that's what you believe. Try a dream-catcher to keep the bad dreams aways but let the good 1's come. Perhaps this will help you remember them.

Or if your not into that stuff, just write the dream down in a book or journal or something. Do it in the best detail you can so it'll help you with your writing, as well.

In the end it's just your most powerful organ and musicale that makes things happen to your body: Your brain. Your mind...

I think your problem lies in the words you used "many people say". If people say something it does not mean that it is true. But if it is true i could maybe help you with a taught i had recently. I always believed that if you believe something hard enough it could happen and that your mind has power over the environment. What this means is that if i should believe that the spoon is bent and i believe it so hard that to my mind the spoon is not bent and not straight the spoon will somehow bend. The reason that i could never bend a spoon is because of my disbelief. BUT thats not true because for instance if someone covered a hole in the ground and you walk over it you will fall in no matter how much your mind is "fooled" in believing that there is no hole. Thats how traps work! Its not possible to believe something harder than that or to know for a fact that there is no hole. I still believe that your mind can control the reality of your body. So to get back to the point your question is very good and i agree it does not make any
sense unless you are a spirit yourself. Maybe the non visible world does you a favour for having initiative!

Thoughts have power. The candle has no power, The herbs have very little power- it's sympathetic magic. When you take the candle and carve "Dreams" into it you are putting the focus of your own power into remembering your dreams. Lighting the candle, raising the energy and releasing it brings for th the manifestation of your intent. Simply put- it all comes from YOU. That is why spells you create work better. They are just a way to focus and release the energy towards a specific goal. As you practice, you will notice you can feel the energy more readily, and the manifestation is brought about more quickly as you learn to channel your energy.

Incidentally- For dreams, I recommend a purple candle with some lavender oil on it. Burn a little mugwort too, and keep a dream journal. Good luck. Feel free to message me for help.

You really need to be careful. I am not going to lecture you about the dangers you can cause. Being a former occultist I can tell you that spells that you create on your own, are the most powerful. Spells are really made up of your own determination to get what you want/need. Raise the power within your circle, keep yourself VERY well protected. Then do the ritual as you normally would. When preparing a new spell, one that you have made up, make sure that it is coming from the right area--your heart. Remember the law of 3. You are suggesting something to your subconscious.

Skip the candle.

Put a note pad on your night stand.

Write REMEMBER at the top of it.

Turn the light off and go to sleep. In the morning when you wake up REMEMBER your dreams and write them down.

It is said that our dreams are dialog with the Divine. That dialog is usually to help us grown and change. If we can't remember our dreams it's because we are unwilling to change.

making it up yourself - what this means is that when you get the proper elements, the right colours, the right materials etc. you can put some words together for your spell and cast it. what you need will depend on what outcome you want.

this is why beginners are not usually encouraged to do spell work.
