Why aren't Christians allowed to have favorite contradictions? Mine would be one already mentioned, the birth stories. Every Christmas you see pageants made up from details in both, yet they are completely incompatible:
1) In Matthew, Bethlehem is their hometown; in Luke, Nazareth
2) In Matthew, Jesus is born around 6 BCE (before the death of Herod the Great), in Luke 6 CE (at the time of the census of Quirinius)
3) In Matthew they are on the run from king Herod; in Luke they make a public appearance in Jerusalem, his capitol.
Contradictions are not just for atheists. They are what enable liberal Christians to realize that the Bible cannot simply be accepted at face value, that while it has valuable insights it also has teachings that are dubious.

I don't see it as a contradiction but the Noah's Ark thing is sooo unbelivable, I like to pick at that.
The first contradiction I was aware of was 'Turn the other cheeck' vs 'An a eye for an eye...'

The claim that the earth was created before the sun (and is therefore older).
Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
[Day 1]
Genesis 1:14-15
And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so.
[Day 4]

My favorite contradiction is
Scientific test in the Bible to identify a true Christian believer.
According to Mark Chapter16 verse 17-18 it says
"There will be signs for true believers and among the signs - In my name they shall cast out devils, they shall speak foreign tongues, new tongues, they shall take up serpents - And if they drink deadly poison, they shall not be harmed - And when they place their hand over the sick, they shall be cured."
I have challenged people to take the test and prove their belief in Jesus. No one agreed to take the test.

The different creation stories, but my favorite by far is the preachyness of love, but the harsh , harsh punishments there are. Like cutting off hands and what not.

The instructions for animal sacrifices in Leviticus... Never read a more comprehensive account of anyone's (in this case Aaron's) culinary preferences.

A bible he writes himself or anything that is in his mind. He should not have any favorite Bible. His own is the best.
