My daughter has been dressing herself since about 3, not to say that she matched then. lol NOW at 3.5 she picks out clothes that match. I sometimes leave clothes out for her and leave the room because it makes her so proud to do it herself. She cant reach her outting clothes in the closet so I dont have to worry about her changing her clothes a million times a day.

Yeah my daughter only starting dressing herself about 6 months ago at the most and she is three going on 4 in a couple months. Sounds like you've got a smartie "pants" on your hands! That's good. It means she's very observant of what goes on around her, including what you do. She picks up on things quickly. Smile proudly mama!

my son began refusing my help with *everything* at around 18 months. He won't let me do anything for him, he's almost 3 now and picks out his clothes, dresses himself, puts his shoes on, etc. he brushes his teeth, hair, washes himself in the tub. I feel like I got cheated, lol. His grandparents are always trying to help him, expecting that he can't do it, but he's almost able to tie his own shoes!! I don't think it's really common, though, I don't know any other kids his age that can do what he does.

My daughter was two when she was dressing herself. She had a nack for co ordinating outfits, although she didn't keep changing her clothes. She would pick out what she wanted to wear in the morning and choose her pjs for the night.

I don't have that worry w/ my 7mth old, but my 2 older boys starting coming out of there rooms both about 2 with the oddest combinations on. I think boys have a real mind of there own. 1 boot, 1 sandle, underwear & long sleeve shirt. Hell, sometimes they would dig out swim trunks & cowboys boots.
Congrats, she's got independence.

hmm... my son didnt really bother to change his clothes, but by about 2 or so, he could dress himself with help on pants and snaps and getting some shirts over his head. he would only do it when it was time to get dressed though. now at 3 1/2 he can fully dress himself; we will say go get ready, he picks his own clothes out and can get almost all of his shirts over his head and even pull jeans up and snap and zipper them!

Kids will imitate their parents from a very early age. If it gets to be a big issue, put her clothes in the closet and lock it, leaving a few pieces out she can switch throughout the day if she wants.

I have a 2 year old and she can dress herself. She must think I have a bad taste in fashion, because she doesn't even let me pick out her clothes, anymore.

Yeah! It's amazing, isn't it?! My daughter was the same way, all of a sudden she wanted to start putting her shirts on herself, then came pants, then the socks. Sometimes it seems like they learn certain things overnight...

My son is trying three next month and he already tries to dress himself. He puts on his clothes backgrounds, but he know how to get dress all by myself.
