no one believes the earth is 6000 or some thousand years old till the Bible says so. The Bible does not provide an age for the earth; so youthful earthers are incorrect. with the help of further up a number of the genealogies interior the Bible Bishop Usher got here up with the earth became going to end in 1997 by way of fact the earth became created in 4004 BC and could final 6000 years. Titus 3:9 says to ward off genealogies by way of fact they're unprofitable and valueless.

Well I am personally married to a christian and she doesn’t think that the earth is only 10000 years old, nor does the rest of her church. Maybe they are part of the other 55%. You may want to check the source of your stats.
Now my wife’s understanding is that the bible states "days" as the specified creation periods, the days are probably not what they meant, but then it has been translated a lot.
Obviously there were dinosaurs and things on the earth much older than man, cant deny that if you have ever visited a museum.

There are 1,189 chapters in the bible, 31,173 verses, 807,362 words in the bible.
There is only 1 chapter in the bible devoted to the creation of the world. God didn't feel it necessary to spend that much time on a science project. Man is much more important that the creation of the universe. Time means nothing to God. I probably to a few billion years for the dinosaurs to die off before God created Adam.

Is the figure really that high?
Well, CIVILIZATION only goes back about that far.
I hardly think jungle dwellers had a concept of "the world"
Did you see that movie with Powers Booth about the man whose son was taken by tribals in South America as he was building the dam.
They viewed the "jungle" as the world and kept saying the "end of the world" was getting closer.
So the age of thinking, civilized man is only 10,000 or so years old.

Because genuine Christians in the US have made the mistake of being far too tolerant of the extremist cults (e.g. Pat Robertson, the Moral Majoirty, etc) that pretend to be Christian and have allowed them to slip their fanatical beliefs into our educational system.
There should be zero tolerance for this. If a math teadher told his/her students 2 + 2 = 5, and tried to insist he was entitled to do so, he'd be fired. So would a chemistry teacher who claimed he could use magic spells to turn lead into gold.
And that is what should happento any teacher who tries to slip creationism inot a science classroom--they should be fired on the spot and barred from ever teaching again. Nor should so-called "Christian schools" be granted accreditation if they try to teach relgious beliefs as science.

It's derived from a very scientific method.
You take all the begots in the Bible, add them up based on life cycles of the time, and viola! Oh, you have to fudge a few pre-flood numbers, but we think people might have lived a thousand years or whatever.

Make religious indoctrination of children illegal and make factual education on all beliefs (incl. Atheism) a part of Social Studies. After 18 they can decide for themselves.

It is totally embarrassing.
First we have an idiot in the White House. Than it is exposed that nearly half the population is stupid. I cannot believe the hold that Christianity has on this nation. A hold that is strangling common sense.

Smokey the Bear says:
"Only you can save America's youth"
Unfortunately for them, I'm moving to New Zealand because I'm sick of this crap. Yes, I'm running from the problem. If they ever hit 45% maybe I'll come back and teach here.
